Marvel's "Fear Itself"

^ For what? All of Marvel? That might be a huge project!

But I would suggest as long as you limit to a particular set of characters (say all Spider-man or all Avengers or so on), you might be able to find what you need on amazon.com using their listmania lists created by users. For example I use this list to keep updated on Green Lantern collections (and go back and read stuff that I missed from Green Lantern Corps).

well the titles I like are the following

The avengers
captin america
thor
amazing spider man
uncanny x men
x men
wolverine

I stopped around dissassembled because of finacle problems those are over and now I want to catch up any help here would be much appreciated. with the x men I stopped with house of m.

all so forgot the the incredible hulk.

You could probably find a complete reading list for those books by googling it. I don't think someone else is going to compile a list for you.

Yeah, I'm saying that's a lot of help to be asking. Anyways that was an interesting interview. I'm still not buying the epic feel of this book yet. I saw a tweet from Jonathon Hickman who has read issue three and he said it was really good. So here's hoping all this build up actually takes us somewhere.

Ok - Here's what I did timothy.

I found you the reading order of most of the Spider-man graphic novels using amazon.com

I am not sure if Disassembled was just prior to JMS starting on Spider-man. I assumed so.

So JMS run in Listmainia is listed here - http://www.amazon.com/The-J-Michael-Straczynski-Run-On-Amazing-Spider-Man/lm/RAQ9JYSC6XD3L/

After you're done with that, you should move to the Brand New Day - http://www.amazon.com/Amazing-Spider-Man-Brand-New-Day-The-Complete-Collection/lm/R3HFGLKLR0STBN/

The way to search for these lists that have already been created on amazon.com is to go to the main page - Select "Listmania" in the departments and search - I used "spider-man" as the search string. I found the JMS run on the first page of results. The Brand New Day run (which covers stuff that happened after JMS' run) on the second page of the results.

Please feel free to try the same for your other favorite characters/groups.

One important point tho' - This is NOT the complete list for Spider-man - It's mostly the Amazing Spider-Man collected (with some important minis like Road to Civil War). For example while it contains Sins Past (since it's a JMS work), it doesn't contain Sins Remembered (which if I remember right did not happen in "Amazing Spider-man" but in one of the other titles).

Occasionally you get a *complete* list. In which case, the minimum you can do is rate the list as something you found useful (click yes in the box on the top right). Or send a note a note of thanks to the user.

The relevant Wikipedia articles would entail less time, expense, effort, and frustration. I recommend those.

Except for the main Millar/McNiven Civil War series. That was reasonably good. And Pak's The Incredible Hercules (certified FUN) and Brubaker's Captain America (evidently good?). Fraction/Brubaker's Iron Fist may be to some tastes (I liked it until it got boring, myself).

But seriously, you've got to be a little choosy, given a complete run of everything "important" that came out between Disassembled, which was like eight years ago, would probably cost you, what? $800?

After having avoided Marvel pretty completely for a while, I think I'm going to try giving Hickman's Fantastic Four/Future Foundation and the recent Thunderbolts with Luke Cage's Man-Thing a shot.

Timothy posted this in Charting the Novelverse in TrekLit, but seemed more appropriate to respond here...
wish you would start one for marvel universe especially there graphics.

I couldn't really even come close to doing what I did in that thread for the 616 MU. My Marvel reading in recent years has been mostly Avengers with a smattering of X-Men.

I'm glad that Cooghoul was able to help you with Spider-Man as I only bought the "secondary" books (Marvel Knights and Friendly Neighborhood...), before dropping the character with One More Day.

Keeping in mind the potential cost, here is a far from complete and semi-chronological list, based on your preferences above and limited by what I actually own, of "important" Marvel events post-DisAssembled to the "Heroic Age" with some recommendations thrown in.

Astonishing X-Men: Gifted (recommended)
Captain America: Winter Soldier vol 1-2 (important)
Young Avengers vol 1: Sidekicks (recommended)
Wolverine: Enemy of the State vol 1-2 (recommended)
Secret War (important)
New Avengers: Breakout (important)
New Avengers: Sentry(important)
Young Avengers vol 2 (recommended. Note-you can buy the complete Young Avengers mini in an "Ultimate Edition". Recommended back-reading for YA includes Alias and Captain America: Truth.)
House of M (important)
Captain America: Red Menace vol 1-2 (recommended)
Civil War (important)
Captain America: Civil War (recommended)
Planet Hulk (recommended)
X-Men: Messiah Complex (important)
The Death of Captain America vol 1-3 (Important. Better read together rather than in "continuity chucks")
Mighty Avengers: The Ultron Inititive (recommended)
New Avengers: Revolution (important)
Mighty Avengers: Venom Bomb (important)
New Avengers: The Trust (important)
World War Hulk (recommended)
Secret Invasion (important)
Mighty Avengers: Earth's Mightiest (recommended)
New Avengers: Power (important)
Dark Avengers: Assemble (important)
Mighty Avengers: The Unspoken (recommended)
Dark Avengers/Uncanny X-Men: Utopia (important)
Captain America: Reborn (important)
Siege: Dark Avengers (recommended)
Siege (important)
X-Men: Second Coming (important)

Also recommended, but better off read together rather than "continuity chunks" are Jonathon Hickman's Secret Warriors, SHIELD, and Fantastic Four/FF.

I'm sorry but what the hell does timothy's reading list have to do with freakking "Fear Its Self"? I know you guys are trying to help him up but this thread is not the place for it and it's gonna keep bogging it down.

Would this be the wrong place to say I bought Flashpoint #1 and didn't find it as strong as Fear Itself #1.

I definitely like Fear Itself more than Flashpoint. I'm so sick of alternate reality what if stories. They don't "count" as far as I'm concerned.

I'm sure there will be consequences. There were consequences to House of M. But it was still a what-if alternate reality story I didn't care about, except for those consequences tacked on to the end.

Just saw this tweet from Marvel.
Apparently spinning out of Fear Itself will be a new Ghost Rider series...not starring Johnny Blaze of Danny Ketch.

So who is the new GR? The big shock is that
Ghost Rider now has a female host

Watchmen didn't "count" either.

anyone read the latest issue? thoughts on the fate of a certain character?
