Spoilers Marvel's Echo on Disney+

A know a few people have been saying that they're doing the full season release because Marvel isn't happy with it, but from the Next on Disney+ video for January, it looks like all of the original series being released this month are doing full season releases.

Percy Jackson is doing one episode a week. That doesn't mean they aren't just experimenting with different formats for different shows, or that Echo is expected to fail.

How does the logic work with streamers? I know TV stations would dump episodes of failing series to free up time to use for more promising shows but for a streamer that doesn't hold. If the idea is that dumping the episodes shows lack of faith what do they gain by dumping episodes at once rather than weekly?

Echo is an odd one for me. I'm going to watch it. I appreciate that they're going with a darker theme. But like, it feels like Marvel is doing everything they can do now to do something like Daredevil... without doing Daredevil. Like, nobody asked for Echo. She's fine, but... just... give me Daredevil?!

Speak for yourself.

Plus, we are getting Daredevil. Both in this series and in his own. No reason we can't have and enjoy both.

I have no problem with it, but like... have you been sitting around thinking "Oh man, I REALLY wish they would make an Echo series!"?

I'm going to watch it. Echo was cool in Hawkeye. I just find it alittle odd that there is a clear fan demand for Daredevil and we get more of a dangle of him in other things. Possibly just to draw in viewers... I mostly suffered through She-Hulk for the sole reason of seeing Daredevil, so maybe it works.

As was mention, there is a new Daredevil series being made. So the “demand” will be filled.

I don't get why people ask that. Reportedly, the reason they decided to make an Echo series was because they were blown away by Alaqua Cox's debut performance in Hawkeye and felt she deserved a spinoff. It wasn't made because of the character, it was made because of the actress. That's usually the reason spinoffs happen -- not because of the concept, but because a particular actor was popular enough that people wanted to see more of them. That's why The Bionic Woman happened even though Jaime Sommers was killed off in her first appearance, and why Mork and Mindy happened even though the Mork episode of Happy Days was intended to be only a dream. The actors were enough of the hit that they retconned things to bring the characters back.

After all, why assume the only things worth watching are things you were previously interested in? If that were the case, how could brand-new shows or movies ever succeed? Nobody knew they wanted to see Star Trek or Hill Street Blues or Lost before it came out, because it didn't exist before. The goal of telling stories is to create audience interest by making them good enough that people want to see more. Relying on pre-existing interest is a crutch, a shortcut, and it's deeply, deeply bizarre to treat it as a default necessity.

That's fair. It's just mildly bothersome that they clearly enjoyed Charlie Cox's performance as well... but this got prioritized. I don't mind new things, new characters and different stuff and all that but there's finite room on the schedule... I want to see what i've been waiting for. Sprinkle in the other stuff once you've done that.

Maybe it took longer to sort out Cox's return or work out some legal details with the Netflix shows or something. Or maybe it just took longer to get an 18-episode series off the ground than a 5-episode series. There are plenty of factors that can affect scheduling, having nothing to do with people's desire to do a project.

The first three episode of Percy Jackson came out in December, it's not really a new January series.

Maybe not before Hawkeye, but I was excited for her series pretty much from when she first showed up on it.

A new BTS video about the Chocktaw Nation's role and involvement in the show

I'm curious what the cave we see her in is, it looked like it might be something supernatural.
It looks like we might also be getting historical flashbacks.

Featurette-- "This is Choctaw"

I really admire how Marvel Studios has used the bully pulpit of their media dominance to showcase so many diverse cultures that have been underrepresented in Western media, and how committed they've been to getting it right and involving members of those cultures in the creative process at every level. This is how everyone should do it. Share the toys, let everyone have a turn.

Fantastic. This is really encouraging and I love that they made sure members of the Choctaw community were directly involved with the show on many facets, including dubbing of all five episodes into the Choctaw language.

I'm also really excited that both Graham Greene and Tantoo Cardinal are in this show.

I can't wait!

Well, it wouldn't be a Native American themed show without Graham Greene appearing at some point. Not that that's a bad thing, he's a great actor.
I only know Tantoo Cardinal from Stumptown, but she was great in that. Wikipedia does also list a four episode recurring role for her in Longmire, but I don't remember her in it.

I first saw her in Wind River...with Elisabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner! (Also Graham Greene!)

I would say i'm mostly in the same boat and in agreement. I don't want a misunderstanding that I don't want this to happen... I want MOAR MARVEL! Bring it on.

The issue for me is more the order of things. They seem to be delaying things I (and, alot of other fans) really want to see in favor of other things.

And I've already said why I don't think that's a reasonable interpretation. There are many different factors that affect timing and scheduling, like actor/creator availability and the fact that a larger project would take more time to write and plan. So there's no reason to assume they could have gotten the Daredevil show out first. Presumably they're doing the best they can to balance all the factors and come up with a schedule that gets everything out as soon as it's feasible to do so. Scheduling is a complicated process and they wouldn't arbitrarily leave a hole in the schedule by delaying something they didn't have to.

Given that Daredevil is IN this show, as well as Kingpin... not to mention that by most reports, Daredevil has essentially been shot already... I really don't think this is the case.

Now, rumor has it that Feige... hated what he saw of the Daredevil show, so that might possibly play something more of a factor.

I can reserve judgement until the end. Maybe they will do something impressive, like the Daredevil show being something akin to a mini-Defenders type thing, bringing in a few characters from the new mature arm of the MCU.
