Spoilers Marvel's Echo on Disney+

They've really done a good job with casting. And I think especially after Endgame we've seen some of the best acting in superhero projects

Watched the last two eps tonight and I loved it. I had no idea what to expect from this series and it surprised me in a good way time and again. At times it was every bit as violent as The Punisher, but was also able to tug at your heart strings. Great cast all around. I hope we get a second season.

Yeah for me it's doing street level without necessarily resorting to the same "stuff we've already seen" when it comes to low power/street heroes. I also think the broken family aspect is an interesting one. Usually the heroes come from a well to do or happy family even if they're orphans

Watched episodes 3 & 4 this afternoon. I had originally planned on only watching 3, but then once Fisk showed up at the end, I had to keep going.
The big fight at the Skatelife was awesome.
That was definitely not how I expected her to be reunited with Bonnie.
Fisk showing up in Tamaha so early in the season was a surprise, I didn't expect another face to face for Maya and him until the last episode.
I wasn't to surprised after everything that's happened between them that Maya wasn't able to kill him this time.
It was nice to get an explanation for Maya's powers and stuff she's been seeing.

I believe this series had required at least a sixth episode. The second half felt rushed to me. Why only give it five episodes?

I think another episode definitely could've fleshed things out more. I felt some of the editing of the final confrontation was a bit choppy.

The reason Marvel gave was because of budget. Originally it was supposed to be 6 episodes but it was cut to 5. The impression I got from watching it was that a lot of stuff got taken out of the show, especially interpersonal family stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if this was originally supposed to be 8 episodes.

Binged the entire thing, it was good.

However there were several scenes with only sign language that didn't have subtitles attached to them, I don't know if that was intentional or an issue with Disney+ Canada. Not every scene with only sign language, but it was quite a few.

It's long been a recurring glitch with me that the first few lines of subtitles in a movie/episode don't show up, or only show up a second before the next lines appear so you have no time to read them. Happened at least once on Echo that I noticed, but it often isn't noticeable if the first few lines are something you can understand anyway (it was a real pain when it happened with Prey).

I believe it was originally intended to be more than six - maybe the budget was part of the reason that got changed. As for why six became five, the rumor mill is the sixth episode was intended to heavily set up Daredevil Born Again. But with Born Again going back to the drawing board they don't really know yet what its going to be, so they can't use a lot of what was shot as a lead in because it was based on the old ideas of what Born Again was.

Just finished the show and loved the whole thing. Cox was great and had fantastic chemistry with Donofrio. The whole Lopez family was interesting and fun. Ending was slightly rushed, but it was really nice to have a show just do a full on character study and not be so plot obsessed all the time. And Kingpin running for mayor is definitely an interesting tease for the future. I wonder if that's intended to tie in to Thunderbolts or purely be a D+ thing.

I liked it overall. I was worried by the promos playing up how ultra-violent the show would be, but I don't think it really was, except in the marquee "single-shot" fight in the first episode (I put that in quotes since there were a number of pretty clear "back passing in front of the camera" cuts, about as blatant as they were in Hitchcock's Rope). The focus on Choctaw culture and mythology was engaging, and I like the new explanation they came up with for the Echo epithet. Pretty cool costume too, though the costume beat there was kind of, well, an echo of how Kamala Khan got her Ms. Marvel costume.

I liked it that the story was about Maya learning to let go of hate and pain and embrace something more positive -- and I loved it that her victory in the climax came through sharing her power with others. Though I'm not a fan of the tendency in superhero fiction to say that career killers can redeem themselves just by becoming good guys, without ever actually turning themselves in and doing their time for the murders they committed. But it was potent to see her trying to heal Kingpin after all the bad blood between them -- and I loved Fisk's bewildered and shaken reaction as he retreated, as if he couldn't comprehend someone extending compassion toward him.

I do wonder if they've tweaked the continuity a bit, because I seem to remember Kingpin signing to Maya in Hawkeye, but here it was a big plot point that he never bothered to learn.

One aspect that seemed underdeveloped was Bonnie. They set her up as someone very close to Maya, someone she hurt by leaving and was trying to avoid, but then when they were thrust together, they didn't have much time to address their issues, and afterward Bonnie receded into the background.

The actor who played 'Vickey' played Nathaniel Malick in Agents of SHIELD Season 7

That makes two AoS veterans in new roles here, since Andrew Howard (Fisk's man Zane, the guy with the rocket launcher in the cilmax) played the recurring role of Luther Banks in season 3.

I think that was a glitch, all the scenes with sign-language were subtitled for me. Even a few where you couldn't see that the person was signing, but I guess they stuck with the format to make it clear that Maya knew what they were saying.

Yeah, I got all the subtitles too. It's interesting that they kept the subtitles for signed dialogue even when the lines were spoken clearly (most of the time -- there was one scene in the "Sunday dinner" flashback in episode 4 where it was intermittent).

I'm pretty sure that's strictly for Born Again. I can't see how that would work for Thunderbolts anyways since I get the impression it will have a more global feel to it and not something localized to New York City.

Watched the final episode and it was a great end to the series/season.
The one thing it really made clear was that the show was really about Maya and her dealing with her family issues, both with Fisk and with her real family. I was expecting a big epic Maya vs. Fisk & his men knockdown, drag out fight, but I think what we got here was much more interesting. I love that Maya dealt with Fisk by healing the damage done to him by his childhood rather than another fight.
I like that Henry, and Biscuits got their own her moments, and Maya using her power to help Bonnie and Chula get free was pretty cool.
I like the new meaning given to the Echo name, and I loved her suit.
The set up for Daredevil: Born Again at the end was interesting.
Have we heard any rumors or anything about if or when we might see Maya again?
