Hell yeah! The healing thing is very useful. If I start a new game do I lose the unlocked characters?

No, if you've beaten it and start a new game it should give you the option to start but continue with your character data. It's been so long I don't remember exactly how it works, so just don't oversave anything.

I enjoyed the two X-Men games way back when I was living with a bunch of people, but now that those gamers are long gone, playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance just isn't the same for me.

I know what you mean, Aragorn. I don't like playing "Marvel" alone.

Nope. Unlocked features aren't saved to the game save file. They are saved to the console. It's exactly like when you download the Hero/Villain character packs. They become a permanent part of the game.
