Marvel planning Guardians of the Galaxy movie!

Seriously underwhelming trailer. Its a tongue-in-cheek comedy?

About as much as Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers were I guess? An action adventure film can have tongue-in-cheek comedic elements and a lighter tone without being a "tongue-in-cheek comedy" per se.

Seriously now, this is a story where the main protagonists include a cliche sexy green alien assassin girl, the poster boy for steroid abuse, a giant walking house plant and a sodding *space racoon*! Plus with a title as goofy as "Guardians of the Galaxy" did anyone here honestly expect them to come at this with a straight face? ;)

Yeah, if you read the small print of the read out on Quill's rap-sheet, it says something about having a translator device in his head.

Are people seriously judging the ENTIRE MOVIE based on a TWO MINUTE TRAILER?

My God.....

Of course, this is the internet...what do you expect anyway?

Whatever the film ends up being, it's clear that the people that made the trailer want their audience to get the feeling that this is a comedic action sci-fi adventure. Like Iron Man meets The Dirty Dozen...in space! That alone has me interested. After all the overwrought nonsense that was DKR & MoS I'm more than willing to embrace the idea of *fun* comic book films again.

Good point, here. Somebody could easily string together scenes from any of the Iron Man movies to make them look like "80s beer comedies".

Classic!

I find it weird that people are taking issue with the jokey tone of the teaser trailer. Like Downey doesn't crack jokes left and right as Iron Man?

Here's another one.

I for one hope GotG will be very much like the trailer, because the trailer makes it look like a ton of fun. :)

As far as humor goes, both The Avengers and Thor 2 got more laughs than many actual comedies at the screenings I attended.

So are we supposed to think this movie will be nothing like the trailer? ;)

No, my guess is we will get a Marvel movie similar in tone to the Iron Man movies, or Captain Marvel, or Thor...
The point that's trying to be made is that for those moaning that "it's a comedy", is that no, it's not. It's going to be an action film, like the other Marvel films, that has moments of comedy.

This FIRST trailer just chose to spotlight a few comedic moments in succession. Seriously, it's like some of the few complainers are brand new to the process of movie trailers.

oops. I meant to write Captain America. Marvel was wishful thinking.

The trailer also had a lot of action as well. We saw the main character( I'm not familiar with GotG) flying a space plane of some kind, the raccoon shooting some people up and a few other things. The Iron Man teaser was the Ac/DC scene, which had humor in it, Cap. teaser had humor in it and Thor 2 had a ton of humoresque in it, but was still pretty damn good and pretty serious. The comics themselves have cheesy humor in them and that goes for all comic books.

What's wrong with a little humor? It helps to separate the Marvel movies from the increasingly dreary and humorless DC movies.

Yeah. I don't get where the "it's a comedy" idea is coming from. I doubt it'll have anymore comedy in it than the other Marvel films have had. I mean, it's not like the trailer implied a lot of fart jokes and Adam Sandler in drag.
