Marvel/Netflix Daredevil season 2.

I liked season one and two of Daredevil but I wanted to see the Defenders since hearing about it.

I'm surprised they'll be working on The Defenders so soon considering Iron Fist only just started production.

^^
They seem to wanna do (at least) two shows per year, so starting shooting late this year is not really that soon if they wanna hit the autumn 2017 date.

Is it too soon to start a Defenders thread? Shooting will start in August, meaning Finn Jones will go straight from Iron Fist into Defenders. The source seems surprised that Defenders will only be eight episodes, but that is how I remember it from the original announcement.

You probably can, unless you want to track down and dig up the Marvel making more shows for the small screen thread to talk for now.

So we're not getting daredevil season 3 until 2018? That sucks.

Well, at least a 2018 debut for Daredevil season 3 will provide enough time for Foggy and Karen to get settled into their new roles. I doubt The Defenders will have much time for many of the respective leads' side characters.

I don't know, Jeryn Hogarth is a character with ties to both Jessica Jones and Iron Fist, and Foggy is working with her at this point.

ETA-- and I would be amazed if Claire Temple didn't play some role in Defenders.

I won't be surprised if Foggy, Karen, Trish Walker, and maybe Malcolm (and whoever will be Iron Fist's civilian companion character) appear in small roles, I just mean the show probably won't have a lot of time for any of them to have extended roles. (Although this is one strength a TV series has over movies.) I'm certain Claire Temple will show up and I wouldn't surprised to see Jeri Hogarth, either.

Fair enough, but given that I know that that's never going to happen, I like what we're getting.

Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez, showrunners of Daredevil season 2, will take charge of The Defenders. Drew Goddard is also on board as an executive producer.

Jessica Jones showrunner Melissa Rosenberg apparently confirmed back in November that The Defenders was contractually required to begin shooting by a certain time. That's probably why we haven't heard anything about filming for season 2 of that show, yet.

Anyway, it sounds like things are ramping up. Maybe it's time to start a thread after all? I was gonna just go ahead and do it but I thought @Turtletrekker might like to have the honor, since he starts most of the Marvel threads.

Buddy and I started on S2 tonight and made it through Episode 3. Man, this is a good show with some great fight scenes.

So I had a binge through both seasons of Daredevil, perhaps a little late to the show. I don't think season two lived up to the first one, where I felt there was a continued sense of urgency throughout. Fisk was a brilliant baddie. On the one hand he was sensitive and troubled by his past, yet he was also this total badass, and was always interesting to watch.

S2 was building towards greatness, particularly by episode 4 when Jon Bernthall performed the hell out of the Punisher's speech about what happened to his family. However, with the way his story was structured, the season could have ended there with him subdued. By the time Elektra shows up, it felt like something entirely different. I found it hard to warm to her story until the later episodes, and I think the whole Hand story may have been better served in it's own season? The Punisher/Fisk thread by far held my attention the most.

I also thought the Matt/Karen relationship was forced. Karen/Foggy felt a lot more natural during S1, so I was disappointed that wasn't followed up on.

So whilst the structure of of it all was perhaps off somewhat, there was other stuff happening like Karen/Punisher's relationship, Foggy being an awesome lawyer, and the reappearance of Fisk to ignite more chaos into the story. Ultimately the cliffhanger has left me wanting more.

I'm lining up Jessica Jones next. I think the Netflix/Marvel Defenders series seems t have great potential.

I watched episode 8 earlier this week, and I don't think I've commented on it yet.
The way the trial ended up playing out was a big surprise for me. I was expecting them to find a way to get Frank freed, so I was shocked when he actually ended up in jail. I knew Fisk was going to show back up, but I was shocked it happened so early. I was expecting just a brief cameo at the end of the season.
I liked seeing Stick again, and the history of the Hand was interesting. So was the kid he talked about actually Stick himself, or just the guy who started The Chaste?

I believe Colleen Wing is going to be Iron Fist's main supporting character.

Misty Knight was left out as well for Luke Cage.

I can't speak for Foggy, Karen, or Trish, but Malcolm has been confirmed for Defenders.
