What grade would you give the Marvel Cinematic Universe? (Ever-Changing Question)

I have to give them credit for No Way Home: what could have just been multi-verse shenanigans and nostalgia bait actually holds up as a nice emotionally compelling story, not only for the MCU Peter regarding the loss of May, but for the prior two: especially Garfield's. That moment when he caught MJ was a beautifully done healing moment (I almost cried with him). It was also great how all three worked together rather than going in a direction of conflict. I thought Homecoming was okay, Far From Home was really good and No Way Home a real grand slam. I prefer it to the Multiverse of Madness, which didn't have that same resonance for me.

I don't disagree, but Spider-Man is to the MCU was Batman is to the DCU. They'll make TV shows in his universe but never actually with him because his films are cash cows.

A street level Spider-Man film would do pretty darned well because it's Spider-Man. I don't mean they lose tech heavy adversaries. The Vulture was a great example of what they could do without it being a universe ending or city collapsing catastrophe. Something along the lines, say just for illustration, the Shocker and Peter having to deal with that on his own, without Dr. Strange, or any of the other remaining heroes. No super Stark tech, just a young man, his abilities, costume and web-shooters at local college. And introducing a new supporting cast wouldn't require more than any other film would. Peter would already know some of them.

I have no doubt Zendaya will be back, but how she figures would (and should) be different. Like alt. Gamora.
Most of Spidey's villains and solo stories are fairly street level, so there's plenty of material for a smaller more grounded Spidey movie. We already got Shocker and a pre-Scorpion Marc Gargan in Homecoming, so they could easily bring them back, or introduce new villains like Rhino or Hammerhead.
It was not "plenty", if you've ever read all of the issues from the 60s, and certainly not enough to compare it to the way the MCU is handled. Two completely different animals--the opposite of "pretty regular".
I'd say 5 out of the 20ish is plenty, and I actually have read the first three or four issues in the first Masterworks, including the Fantastic Four's appearance in #1, so I know how that stuff was handled. And there are plenty of different types of crossovers in both the MCU and the comics, so you can't really lump them all together.

I really do want to see a live action Scorpion. The Mac Gargan that we met in Homecoming was supposed to be a part of the ill-fated and much lamented Silver and Black project that Sony unceremoniously canned while moving forward with Morbius and Madame Web.

I didn't know that, but that could explain why they never did anything with him after Homecoming.

I completely forgot about the Shocker in Homecoming and they do need to do something to wash the Paul Giamatti version of the Rhino out of my brain. Only the other absolutely beautiful scene with Spidey and the little boy in the costume leading up to the finale made his appearance worthwhile.

So many people say that Spider-Man is a "loner"; but, was that every real by choice? Spider-Man's life was always filled with complications--he was wanted by the law; he had to protect his Aunt May; his best friend was an addict and later on a villain; he failed to save his girlfriend.

Where did Spidey ever say he was better off on his own?

It was never meant to be by choice; rather, the idea is that Spidey is a hard-luck, underdog figure whose life never goes the way he wants it. Jameson turned public opinion against Spidey, the cops were often after him, he fumbled his attempt to join the FF through his own inexperience and arrogance, Aunt May hated Spidey so he couldn't confide in her, and his personal relationships as Peter were often fraught with conflict or were ruined by his life as Spidey. So it's not that he doesn't want the support of others, more that he wants it but doesn't often have it.

In the 60s and early 70s comics--the main title--he often thought he was meant to go on his own, and it was not uncommon for Parker to believe he was "cursed" by the spectre of Spider-Man (most notably in #122)--a problem he did not share with any other costumed heroes (and certainly no one in his civilian life)--the implication being no one would understand his plight. That's was a conscious decision to have him accept the loner's life, which added weight to his troubles.

So I wonder. Could this be the first Avengers movie were the villain is the main protagonist? That would I think be a fun twist on the Avengers movies. Not that the Avengers won't have stuff to do but I wonder if it might even sort of be like Batman 89 were movie really is more about the Joker than it even is Batman.

The article from @Tuskin38's post says that the Thunderbolts will be in it, but I doubt any of them or the FF will be on the Avengers team.

Who I would use would be

New Captain America
Spider-Man
Hulk
Thor
Ms Marvel.
Kate Bishop
War Machine
Shang-Chi
Ant Man
Doctor Strange
X-23

cameo from Deadpool

That seems like a lot to me, I'd prefer they keep it to a smaller group.
I'd go with:
The Capts. Marvel and America
Hulk
Thor
Shang-Chi
Spider-Man

They're already setting up Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye (Bishop) for Young Avengers/Champions, so putting in the regular Avengers too would be kind of redundant.

For a "Young Avengers" movie to work I think they need to give people a little bit of taste by having two of the characters in the more high profile movie. Especially Ms Marvel who is already associated with two flops in terms of ratings and money.

I thought Ms Marvel was well liked, if not a rating power house. Vellani seems popular as well.
