What grade would you give the Marvel Cinematic Universe? (Ever-Changing Question)

Honestly; 'Hawkeye' might be the most rewatcahble Marvel show of the bunch for me. Hell, it might be the only truly rewatchable one so far as I'm concerned since it's literally the only one I've since revisited again (this past December, as it happens.)
Whether it gets a second season though rather depends on how soon they plan on paying off

Not that all the others are bad by any means (only one of the M/D+ shows has been actively terrible IMO) but none of the others have made be feel like watching them again. Some rely too heavily on the kind of mystery that only works well on the first go-round, which usually means it wasn't a terribly well constructed one to begin with. Others either had a weird slump in the middle, or lost energy towards the end. All well good and enjoyable, bit mostly one-and-dones for me.

That's not to say that I wouldn't want to see some of them at least get another season; 'She Hulk' for one, though I gather that's been said to be off the table for now. 'Ms Marvel' would also be good to pick-up now her movie is out. 'Moon Knight' . . . eh. I can take or leave another one of those.

OK, wasn't massively bothered about this project one way or the other, but the idea that it's a period piece has gotten my my attention. I'm going to go out on a limb and presume that the period will be the early 70's, both because that's when the character was introduced, and because it means they can lean on the same alchemy of Blaxploitation cinema, the US kung-fu craze, and classic Universal Monsters style gothic horror that birthed the character in the first place . . . though not played as kitsch, but a legit horror. If so; seems like a logical stable mate of 'Werewolf by Night'.

Considering that the first comic to feature blade was from 1973, it's not that much of a reach.
However, are we really at the point where we're calling something set in the 70's a period piece?

Well if you want to get technical about it, basically anything not set in the general present day at time of filming/release is by definition a period piece. My personal very general rule of thumb for it is: anything where you have to tailor the costumes, sets & general production design specifically to show it's of a specific era/decade/year etc. counts as a period piece. Which usually kicks in at about the 15 year mark and, well . . . 1973 is half a century ago and this point! You can bet that if they made a movie in the 1970's set in the 1920's (something they might also depict given that when Blade was born IIRC) that it would also be considered a period piece, no?

Kit Harrington was born in 1986, so he could easily play a previous incarnation of his character in a movie set in the 1970s.

Something set in the nineties is now a period piece.

I would be perfectly pleased with Blade set in the decade of his published origin, where the heart of the elements which formed the character gained relevance as a product of the era. I'm all for more MCU projects being set in the past (i.e., any time other than the present era).

However, are we really at the point where we're calling something set in the 70's a period piece?

"Period piece" has several definitions, none of them hammered into stone; some believe its any time older than one currently occupied, while others tend to think a story must be set more than several generations ago, such as the Victorian era, for one example.

For all we know this is where the movie starts, and the whole thing is a flashback (like they did for CA: tFA), or they link back to this in a mid-credit scene or something (ala Captain Marvel.) But on the other hand: they don't necessarily even need to do that much. Has Harrington even been confirmed to be in the cast for this?
 
I would've liked Cage, Iron Fist and Shang Chi to have been back there in the 70s with him (assuming this is the case). I imagine they will be going with extended lifespan so they can get away with having Blade back in the day and in the modern MCU. I wouldn't mind an animated MCU 197X or something presented as a What If? or something to that effect.

Can we get Mahershala Ali in that overcoat and wraparound glasses?
