Spoilers Marvel Cinematic Universe spoiler-heavy speculation thread

What grade would you give the Marvel Cinematic Universe? (Ever-Changing Question)

What if Gamora killed Thanos (I assume in Infinity War) is the most interesting idea, as it has a domino effect i'm not sure the series would be able to explore / pull off, e.g. Thanos's entire campaign ends early, thus:
  • Vision & Black Widow live
  • no one is dusted
  • Rogers never travels into the past to see Peggy, which leads to his disappearance--as a young man--at the end of Endgame. If he remained in the present, Sam probably continues on as the Falcon / never seeks out and learns Isaiah Bradley's story, etc.
  • and obviously, Stark survives, among other things.
  • Thor would not have needed to create Stormbreaker.

I remember that earlier "What If?" story where Bruce could always control the Hulk and how that one thing altered SO much in the Marvel Universe, like how it meant the Avengers never formed, the Fantastic Four broke up and Professor Xavier deciding to not open his school so the X-Men never existed.

It also has over 30 minutes of IMAX footage in it, which is crazy when you think that if Dune hadn't moved it wouldn't have had an IMAX release.

So this movie was msde especially for IMAX? There is literally just 2 IMaX theaters within 100iles of Chicago .... so will this be worth the effort? Nice thing is its on Veterans Day so we can do an Early show, but we also need to reserve early...if it is worth it!

Many of the newer Marvel releases are available in Imax format on Disney+. For some it's the whole movie, for others it's specific scenes.

Stuff I've seen in a recent movie makes me wonder if they haven't already been doing this.
It's because of that they are doing this. They are overworked, understaffed, underpaid and made to do and redo work on the whim of studios that equate VFX with just doing another take of a scene. It's a growing problem VFX artists everywhere have to deal with. Recent movies just reflect the problem.

I didn't realize until recently just had badly the poor VFX artists are treated. I have to wonder if it's that the directors and people making the movies don't really understand just how complicated the effects are and what goes into making them, or don't care.

They don't care.

My friends in the VFX industry would lament how things would just be expected to be fixed by VFX.

I don't think directors would be that oblivious, given how closely they work with the creative people on their films. It's probably more that the studio executives insist on the rushed schedules and bad conditions because they only care about the bottom line.

I wouldn't excuse the directors. There are shitty people who direct just like there are shitty people in every job. If you look, there are no shortage of former VFX people posting stories of terrible directors.
