I would have for Cavill to join the MCU. He just escaped from one dead franchise. Why join one that is in the process of dying?

Why in the world do you think it's dying? They've announced two more whole phases in the works, and we don't even have the full picture of Phase 6 yet. They're building up toward introducing the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, and their streaming TV presence is active, robust, and expanding. I really don't understand the source of the doomsaying I'm hearing from some quarters.

Because I believe it's dying . . . artistically. I believe the MCU has been artistically dying since 2016. I don't care how many phases Feige has planned. I thought Phase 3 was bad . . . until I saw Phase 4.

Just because you don't enjoy it anymore, doesn't mean its dying. It just that you as a person are no longer interested in what it has become. Just like human beings change, so do franchises. Music does, art does. Why? Because the people making it change. Characters in a show or movie franchise shouldn't stay static as well. They experience things and their personality changes with it.

Regardless of belief, it is still a large money making enterprise. Even if it is dying artistically, there is still money that can be made here and it is a successful brand. Being associated with it right now is good business.
You've said this multiple times. We get the picture. But it is your opinion.
They stated "I believe..." so they're acknowledging it's their opinion.

It's just the language being used like dying/dead or calling a movie a flop when they didn't like it. Asking why Cavill would want to go from a dead franchise to a dying one doesn't sound like one questioning his artistic choices. It'd be like saying the Kardashians are bankrupt without prefacing it with something like creatively or morally or whatever (not saying they are...). Of course someone is then going to say "What, they're worth millions?".

^ The key takeaway.

Why some are so incensed and/or offended by what is a minority opinion (on this board) is rather strange.

What bothers me is the incessant need to repeat negative comments that do nothing to contribute to the conversation other than the poster saying "this is dying" "this is bad" or "my franchise is so much better than your franchise". Make the statement once--fine. Repeat it over and over and it becomes tedious.

You and I disagree a fair amount and also agree on some things---but I appreciate how you take the time to thoughtfully express your views most of the time; your reviews of episodes; and your analysis of what is happening to the DCU because of the merger right now. That's the difference.
