So Marvel has just dropped this rather tasty appetiser for phase 4, including the reveal that Black Panther 2 is subtitled ‘Wakanda Forever.’

The Marvels... with Carol, Monica, and Kamala! I love it. Between that, Black Widow, the Wasp, and the dominance of women in Wakanda Forever's cast list, Marvel is really trying to make up for the lack of female title characters in the first three phases.

Fantastic. Plus, need footage from Black Widow!

Indeed. Making up for Ike Perlmutter's shitty, sexist blockade.

I do have to laugh at sites like Screen Rant that manage to take this one video and spin it out into a dozen different "news" stories. Gotta get those clicks!

I wonder how Perlmutter will try to punch down for revenge.

Meantime, this looks like a good slate.

Disney did everything it could to remove him from having any power over Marvel anymore. He hasn't sold his stock, so odds are they found something underhanded he did to blackmail him into being a silent shareholder.

If you're right, I hope - please, no "monkey's paw" interpretations of this hope! - the leverage holds until it's no longer needed to hold him off.

Not at all. We have the MCU itself and its established backstory and worldbuilding, which lets us conjecture how a new element might fit into it. That's what I'm doing -- speculating based on what Captain Marvel established about the Skrulls and how a Secret Invasion story might fit into that context. If we presume that Talos's group represents the Skrull mainstream, it reasonably follows that any villainous Skrull faction might be an extremist minority. Of course, it's conceivable that it could be the other way around, but there was nothing in the movie to suggest that, and when it comes to speculating about the MCU, the MCU itself should always be the primary basis.
OK, that's fair. I haven't watched Capt. Marvel in a while, so I don't really remember what it established about the Skrulls.
Just saw the new video on Youtube, and that is a great line up. Love the new titles for Capt. Marvel 2 and Black Panther 2.
We also got our first bits of footage from The Eternals, and more footage from Shang-Chi.
I think the Black Widow footage was all stuff we've seen in the trailers. I couldn't tell was the clip before the title reveal for Wakanda Forever new or from the first one?
EDIT: Never mind, what I thought was Black Panther footage was more Eternals.
IGN has some screencaps of The Eternals footage, if anyone wants a better look.

I was perusing the TV schedule and saw this listed for tonight which sounds bizarre:
NBA Basketball: Marvel's Arena of Heroes
Golden State Warriors at New Orleans Pelicans
LIVE

7:30 PM ON ESPN2HD 203
The telecast will integrate elements from an original Marvel story and iconic characters including Iron Man, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Captain America throughout the live game, including 3D characters, custom graphics and animation packages.

My hope for The Marvels is that they actually let Carol have some fun and depict Captain Marvel as a Superman-like figure on Earth. And don't give her amnesia for three quarters of the fucking movie.

I liked the way Captain Marvel used Carol's memory loss. We learned about her at the same time she did. Even the flashbacks were her real-time experiences as Talos probed her memories. Structurally, it was very deft and clever.

But of course, it's no longer necessary in a sequel where the basic exposition is no longer required.

I don't really think she is a Superman-like on Earth in terms of sentiment from the public simply because Superman stayed on Earth most of the time. Carol seems to have spent a lot of time offworld. Supes is flying around saving people from everyday life/death situations.

I can certainly understand her having a following and especially being the most or one of the most powerful superheros plus being female.

But in terms of Supes vs Captain Marvel I'm not sure Captain Marvel was on Earth enough to be putting out massive building fires, saving in trouble aircraft, vehicles about to fall off highways, etc...

I love how they included audience reactions to Endgame - Marvel just knows how to energize the fans and then deliver the goods.

These are going to be 2 interesting years and they capped it off with a superteaser for the Fantastic Four!

Not that we've seen, no, but there must've been some of that in the five-year gap or afterward, if they're keeping the aspect of Kamala Khan being a major Carol Danvers fangirl.

I think my issue with the amnesia story is that it just resulted in her being a fairly bland character for much of the movie.

Yeah they either need to explain she stuck around on Earth for a while during The Blip (can't believe they kept that name) or that she stuck around after Endgame to explain Kamala (and presumably others) being such a big fan. Can't all be based on cellphone footage of her fighting Thanos surely.
