Whether or not a "shared universe" works or not is irrelevant to the analysis of quality and its effect on an industry.

Scorsese making a legitimate criticism of what is largely a popcorn franchise has no bearing on or was not motivated by any alleged thoughts of his own sense of achievement. There is no attention whoring in his reaching the same conclusion of others--he's a bigger name, particularly in the history of film, so his statements will take the lion's share of the oxygen in the room.

Look, Scorsese is not wrong that these kinds of movies are disappearing from cinema. But these experiences aren't disappearing. For my family of three to go to the movies, tickets are around $45. Then when you add snacks on if we go to a regular theater, for popcorn and soda (plus gummies for the kid) that's another $30, so $75 to see a movie. If we go to Moviehouse & Eatery or Alamo Drafthouse (our favorite theaters) it's closer to $100 because you get a full meal. I'm sorry, but for that kind of money, I want to be blown out of my chair, not see a crime drama, a family drama, or something along those lines. For that, I have prestige TV which scratches that itch quite nicely which I can watch at home on my 4K TV with surround sound. Breaking Bad, Chernobyl, Killing Eve, The Wire, Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, The Sopanos, The Americans, Mr. Robot, etc. I don't NEED to spend $75-$100 along with dealing with, you know, people in order to see that. I get that experience at home, with just as much skill. When I go to the movies, I want to feel the movie earned my $100, and for me that is big bombastic movies. Look, I love Rom-Coms and I was bummed they went away, and then Netflix brought them back. Scorsese and Coppola need to get over the presentation format and go where the eyeballs are willing to watch the exact kind of content they create (which Scorsese at least knows some, being an EP on Boardwalk Empire). Because I enjoy The Godfather, but I doubt if it came out today I'd pay $50 (wouldn't take the kid to that one) to see it.
Oh, please. He's not "digging a deeper hole" and he's certainly not jealous. The man has films that are decades old and still celebrated around the world. I seriously doubt the same will happen to most of this generation's superhero movies.

Or to put it another way, it's as much a crime flick as Dr. Strange is avant garde.

We already knew that WandaVision was going to tie into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but now we also know that the Loki show on Disney+ will tie directly into the movie as well. That makes sense given the origins of the Loki character that we'll be seeing in the show and the multiversal concept of the movie.

I wonder if those shows will be available on Blu-ray and DVD before the Doctor Strange movie or if Disney+ is going to be the only option if you want to get the whole story. I do trust Marvel Studios to craft a movie that is self-contained enough that you don't absolutely need to to have seen WandaVision or Loki, but I would think they would want to have the whole story accessible to everyone before release.

Sounds pretty typical for the era it was written in. Manly hero makes sure the helpless female is out of harm's way while he does manly stuff. (Though in this case it was so the Wasp can get the other manly heroes to rescue Hank, while she swoons and goes in to Damsel in distress mode) I'm sure 60's Avengers comics are full of similarly cringe worthy scenes.
Comics (and no doubt other media) from the '50s and '60s often promoted a view of gender relations that was downright abusive in retrospect. Here's a recent entry from the Stupid Comics website that shows how twisted and stalkery the period's idea of "romance" could get:

Disney/Marvel is submitting pretty much all of the major actors from Endgame for Supporting Actor and Actress Oscars. I'm kind of surprised they didn't at least put RDJ and Chris Evans up for Lead Actor.
I guess they figure one might stick.
I mean I would definitely consider Karen Gillan, except I have no idea what the competition is this year. But especially for supporting roles, Endgame wouldn't be anywhere near the top MCU film I'd have wanted to submit. There have been much stronger supporting performances in a bunch of other mcu films.
Costume design, special effects, perhaps best adapted screenplay.
I can't see it winning any of the big awards, unless they're judging performances from the entire saga. It always seemed to me that Return of the King sweeping the Oscars was really result of the academy honoring the whole trilogy, rather than the one movie. Something similar could apply here.

Avengers: Endgame has the "unfortunate" honor of being a really good movie that was popular with the general audience and most people that saw it really liked it, which generally invalidates a movie for any Oscars that aren't special effects/costume/score related. Outside of the rare times when they are basically forced to give the award to a well loved movie/series, like with Return of the King, if the movie in question isn't a boring as fuck artsy movie, its got very slim chances of winning Best Picture or the acting awards. Something like Avengers might get a nomination just to get non artsy people to tune into the awards, but Avengers: Endgame is way too good to actually win anything except stuff genre movies usually get nominated in that I mentioned before.
