Cool, I haven't read any of her comics, but I love the idea of actually seeing her in an MCU movie just because of what she represents. Her presence would be a big step in diversity for the MCU.

A fan made a supercut of all of the Iron Man suit-ups, sans Infinity War, of course. There a few non-Tony moments included which sadly demonstrates how we never get to see Rhodey suit up. He only ever just shows up at the scene as the War Machine or Iron Patriot.

I still find it a bit ridiculous that it's taken this long to finally get a BW movie. One of the biggest mistakes Marvel made was not giving us a BW solo movie during phase 2. I think Scarlett Johanson had already been the lead several hit movies at that point, and people liked the character, so there really was no reason not to do one at that point. If they really didn't want her to lead the movie by herself, for some unclear reason, then they could have always just done a Black Widow/Hawkeye movie.

As for the news about the directors, I've never heard of any of them so I have no preference.

What I've heard before is that when Ike Perlmutter had influence over the movie division, he resisted doing any movies that weren't headlined by white men. It's only since his departure that they were able to set things in motion. Plus, Johansson is a very busy, very expensive actress, so there was probably a lot of negotiation required to make it happen.

It was all due to Perlmutter, he was putting the kibosh on things like nonwhite and nonmale leads and villains. That's why he only got Hela in Thor 3 and why Maya Hansen wasn't the villain of Iron Man 3.

Anyways, anyone keeping track of the Disney/Fox/Comcast thing? Odds are in Disneys' favor.

Of course there are the degenerates who are all "If this happens we'll never get R Rated CBMs ever again!"

As if blood and gore are the only things worth caring about in CBMs...

I don't know. After "Lucy" and "Ghost In the Shell" I don't think this will be a success.

It makes no sense to blame the failure of a couple of bad movies on their lead actress. Any successful actor will have a few bad movies in their filmography. How many bad action movies has Tom Cruise or Arnold Schwarzenegger or Bruce Willis or Dwayne Johnson made? Yet they keep getting hired to make more movies, some of which are hits. It's a sexist double standard to forgive male action leads for the countless bad movies they make but to cite one or two bad movies as "proof" that a female lead is box-office poison.

That's exactly how sexism works.

Yes, Marvel is finally doing the film, but as already mentioned, it was roadblocked for years...because of sexism. Marvel is far from the first and only studio that has done that.

With Lucy...well I think it was a bit of the beaten path, and the huge detriment with Ghost in the Shell was that Scarlett was white and not even half Asian, so a huge backlash before filming even started. Black Widow has already proven to be a fan favorite...so there is no doubt of SOME kind of success...not Black Panther level...but not the bottom, especially if written well.

If it's well-written and, most importantly, well-promoted (not over-promoted or under-promoted), the sky's the limit. Black Panther did way better than expected, and I feel a good Black Widow movie may do the same or better. Especially since we're dealing with a classic Avenger, fan-favorite, etc.

Black Widow is an MCU movie, so that alone brings in some good numbers, then there's the fact that people have been practically begging for a BW movie since the first Avengers, and the fact that it's the first MCU movie with a female solo lead. Add all those factors together and I'm pretty sure they'll add up to a successful movie. It might not rise to quite the level of Wonder Woman, but I'm pretty confident it'll do well.
