Even if the rumors aren't true, it is a good sign that the story was so plausible that nobody questioned it.

Well, I certainly questioned it. It's plausible, but it's also a bit of wishful thinking. We think it's true because we want to be true.

And then there's the precedent of the Sony/Spider-man arrangement, so it seems more than just plausible at this point. Really, it's the only smart move Fox can make regarding the IP.

If a deal like this were to go through, then we'd get Skrulls!

We'd get:
The Skurlls + Super Skrull
Shi'ar Empire + Gladiator
Annihalus, Baalstar + Negative Zone
Doctor Doom
The Sphinx
Mole Man
Ego
Galactus, Silver Surfer, Nova (Frankie Raye) Terrax

Others, I'm sure I'm forgetting.

Fox has the best villains of the Marvel Universe, but has no way to use them. If Marvel did make this deal with Fox, it would literally be the best thing for CBM fans.

But Fox essentially has Marvel's best villains held hostage, due to Fox holding on to the FF rights. :scream:

My preferred solution would be just the FF shared with Marvel like Spidey is now.

Fox could still cross over FF and X-Men when they wanted to - FF is grounded in dimensional travel after all, but the X franchise should stay as a stand-alone.

If you want the mutants in the MCU, you'd probably have to do a big reality retconning event so that they'd alwatys been there, or a collapsing of realities together story like DC's Crisis on Infinite Earths or Marvels current Secret Wars.

Or just have the mutants having kept an extremely low profile for the most part like the Inhumans.

If it's a thing that needs to happen, then the simplest way to introduce the term "mutant" into the MCU is to just have the media or government apply it as a label to these new terrigen fish-oil Inhumans. And/or have them embrace the term themselves since not everyone can get the Kree history lesson from Daisy. Also, given that none of them choose what happened to them, "mutant" seems to fit the whole "I've been violated" type connotation that also goes hand in hand with the inevitable mass persecution and ostracization.

Another way to fit the concept in is if mutants are descendants of post-transition Inhumans, so they don't need terrigen; their abilities simply manifest during puberty.

I think they left themselves an out by showing powered people without explanation. They just called them gifted.
Scorch comes to mind or the absorbing guy from last season, forget his name.
Those could easily be called mutants.

^IIRC everyone like that so far had been stated to have been the victim of some accident or the subject of a mad science experiment. The only exception I can think of is Kreel, but I don't think the origin of his abilities are addressed at all, just that he was using them back in his boxing days.

Still, I don't think any non-Inhumans have been explicitly said to have been born with their abilities. Indeed, I think Simmons very specifically made this point last season when looking at Raina's DNA.

The only site I trust that has that story is Io9, so I'm not sure how believable to find it.

And even Io9 says to take it with a pinch of salt.

I would be disappaointed if it's true. I was looking forward to an Iron Fist series much more than I would a Punisher series. I am excited to see the Punisher on Daredevil, but that's because they would be in an adversarial role, in which I would be rooting for Matt. As a lead character, I would have more difficulty with his methods and actions. The Punisher is not an anti-hero. He is a nut.

Plus The Punisher has already gotten 3 poorly recieved adaptations and one popular unofficial one, while Iron Fist has only played supporting and guest roles in other characters TV shows. I would much rather see them focus on a character like Iron Fist, who hasn't had his own adaptation, than someone we've seen adapted repeatedly.

All these stories just feel like websites repeating rumors because other websites are repeating them.

That said, at this point in time, the Marvel bigwigs have had a fair amount of time to judge Bernthal's performance as Punisher. They must have tons of footage by now. And it wouldn't surprise me if they realized/decided that they're far closer to being ready for a Punisher series than an Iron Fist series because of that.

If Marvel does change the schedule, it probably won't be an announcement of actually cancelling Iron Fist, but more likely just delaying it. They've already done it once this year. We were supposed to get
DD -> JJ -> LC -> IF -> Defenders
but now we're getting
DD -> JJ -> DD Season 2 -> LC -> IF -> Defenders

And how surprised would anyone be if we heard an announcement of Jessica Jones season 2 in December if season 1 is anywhere near as successful as DD was?

If they've already got DD and Jessica and Luke and Punisher figured out, well, do what you know you're good at. And wait until you're certain you can get Iron Fist right.

That said, while I'd like to see an Iron Fist series, I'm not going to shed any tears if we get Punisher or Moon Knight or JJ Season 2 or something else first.

I would like to see Coulson or May or Daisy drop in and say hello during DD season 2 though. But these Netflix shows don't seem to be filmed the same way Shield and Agent Carter and many other weekly television shows are. They're filmed much more like movies, a long time in advance, which makes it far more difficult to sync up an appearance from a character on a weekly tv show.

I don't know if I could make myself watch a Punisher series, even by the same people who made Daredevil.

Cate Blanchett Joining 'Thor 3'

Cate Blanchett, coming off her best actress nomination for the 1950s drama Carol, is in final negotiations to join Thor: Ragnarok, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The move comes a little more than a week after the Marvel Studios project hired Stephany Folsom to work on the script.

It is unclear what character Blanchett would play but several sources say that Marvel has been on the hunt for a “bad-ass female.”
