I imagine Matt Damon would not have been eager to reprise the weight loss he did for Courage Under Fire. (If he even could. I hear tell his "acting advice" to Josh Hartnett was "Don't put on weight for a role after forty, because you'll never get rid of it."

If I remember the interviews correctly, Matt Damon wanted to loose the weight for The Martian.
But he is right. I'm 42 now. Went from around 120kg to 74. I'm also 192cm tall. You do the math. Got back to a healty weight, but am slightly over that now. I want to drop a few kgs. But dammit, it's not as easy as it was 10 years ago.

The things Christian Bale does to his body for roles is deeply disturbing.

I am both in awe of the man's commitment, but is also deeply troubling. And very unhealthy.

Does Bale still do that, though? As far as I know, the last time he gained and then lost a lot of weight for a role was for Vice and then Ford v Ferrari right after that, and that was over five years ago. He's 50 now, it wouldn't surprise me if he stopped doing these weight losses and gains.

From 2019...

I got to say I am kind of excited about the MCU for the first time in awhile. I loved X-Men 97 and also Deadpool and Wolverine. I have high hopes for Agatha and Daredevil even though Agatha will for sure not get good ratings. I think it's going to be like "Ms Marvel." Good show that nobody watches because people are wanting the big name characters right now. The trailer for "Captain America" also looks good but I do have worries because they basically changed the whole movie through reshoots. Also bringing back Robert Downey Jr is very intriguing. I know it also feels desperate but I am really excited to see what they are going to do. Fantastic Four trailer clips also look good. Also the final season of "What If."

Doesn't make it any less insane that he did it multiple times already.

Here's a bit that escaped notice-- Brad Winderbaum has confirmed that, unlike other Marvel animated projects, the upcoming four episode Black Panther: Eyes of Wakanda is set on Earth 616 / The Sacred timeline / the world of the main MCU narrative and it will expand the history of not only Wakanda but of the MCU as a whole.

Also confirmed at D23 is the rumor that the story will tie in to the mythology of the Iron Fist, K'un L'un and "other secret cities".

This is one of the parts that intrigues me the most. I hope that it is actively consistent with what was established in Iron Fist (meaning, not just doesn't contradict it but flows with it), perhaps even to the point of continuing that storyline just a bit. There were threads that still needed wrapping up.

It also has the potential to establish how realms such as Ta Lo fit together in the grand cosmological scheme.

Eyes of Wakanda is seemingly still scheduled to drop sometime in 2024.

I'm pretty sure I posted an article awhile back about him saying the same (about expanding the history of Wakanda and the MCU as a whole)...

...but this is the first I've seen it being only four episodes! That's extremely disappointing.

Now that is pretty big news! I'm very curious to see how all of them tie together.

But again, seriously disappointing that it's only four episodes.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how Iron Fist and K'un Lun connect to Wakanda. Did the Iron Fist show deal with the history of the Iron Fist much?

Not sure there will be a direct connection like with Wakanda and Talokan via Vibranium. Might be a "travelogue" with Wakanda reaching out to K'un Lun or Ta Lo. I wonder if Attilan is on the itinerary?

So just kind of a quick overview of all the hidden cities of the MCU? I could see something like that happening.

I assume there will be a plot thru line. Some sort of McGuffin leading our central characters around the world.

Other stops might include Lemuria, Kamar-Taj, Nova Roma and if they're daring enough some Eternals cities. Maybe a visit to the Native American Keewazi Nation.

On a slightly different tack, I'm curious how the MCU will handle Latveria, The comics like to portray as a quaint backwater stuck in the 1800s hiding advanced technology in ancient castles. (But only Doom has the access)

That may depend upon whether Latveria winds up landing on the 616 or elsewhere in the multiverse like the Fantastic Four did. At any rate, I do like the traditional vision of Latveria that you described and hope that they run with that.
