Good for him for recognizing that he needed to take a break instead of pushing himself too far. We need more public figures to address their mental health properly in order to help remove terrible stigmas on such issues.

I just hope Sony is patient and doesn't panic into a snap decision to recast Spider-Man. Surely even they realize that Tom is a huge part of why his films are such successes creatively and financially.

They're not even in pre-production for a new Spidey film yet, and Holland probably has a good idea when he'll be needed back on set for the next Avengers film.

Yeah, I know. I'm sure it'll be fine.

Just my knee-jerk reaction because I don't trust Sony at all.

Definitely, I think a lot of non-actors don't realize just how much of an impact some of these darker roles have on them. Just look what happened to Heath Ledger after he finished playing The Joker.

Well, yes, but my larger point was to demonstrate for all people that it's a good and positive thing to take care of your mental health. If cool people like Tom Holland do it, then it's okay for you, too.

They can always make a Miles Morales live action movie if they want.
That doesn’t require Tom. At least initially.

I don't think they're about to make a Morales movie when there's still a Spider-verse animated feature coming.
I sooner expect them to make a D+ show with a live action version after that, which could lead into the movies.

Damn, those are some awful accusations. Not just the sexual assault (which is horrible enough) but also that an anti-racism organization that he's a member of used their platform against her in order to protect him.

Mind you, there's a language barrier here and I don't trust Twitter to properly translate her tweets (I don't know about how the Direct translated them). Either way, this is better reporting than some of the early reporting I saw from sites I hadn't heard of and I at least trust the Direct to report something like this accurately.

Same.

Ant-Man 3 was at least visually interesting and quite imaginative, or at least I found it so. Visually, I would compare it with Fantastic Planet (La Planète sauvage, 1973) which I'm aware is high praise.

I guess some may have found it to be a visual assault. While watching it I couldn't help noticing that shot to shot there was so much blink and you'll miss it stuff going on. From character design, to the creatures, backgrounds and technologies... It was constantly striving to put interesting things onscreen.

I might have been something as a tonic, as directly before I watched Wakanda Forever as part of my catch up too. And I really enjoyed that movie. But it was (necessarily) heavy. Ant-Man 3... I prefer it to Love and Thunder and I quite liked Love and Thunder.

What a shame that the actors who play two of Marvel's new standout characters are seemingly dickheads. Kang and Namor... I guess recast it is and good riddance.

I'm suspicious of a Stan Lee movie. I doubt it's going to get much into him hoarding the likes of Ditto's artwork for decades or stinging his pencillers/inkers on creative royalties.

I doubt that will solve the problem. The fact that this keeps happening, that so many reportedly abusive actors have gotten these major starring roles (not to mention directors like Whedon), implies that there's a deeper problem with the industry's culture, a willingness on the part of executives to tolerate or indulge that kind of behavior, because many of them are probably guilty of it themselves. Look at what Maureen Ryan's new book Burn It Down is exposing about abusive behavior from powerful people in Hollywood. It's not just a few isolated individuals, but a systemic problem in the institution, and it's now starting to get confronted and talked about more. But firing a couple of public faces of the problem will not erase the deeper problem. It's going to take a wholesale reform of the industry.

I'm giving both of those guys the benefit of the doubt, after the Johnny Depp thing.
You mean in the case where there's video and other physical evidence of his abusive behavior and used his fame and fortune on a horrific smear campaign against the victim? That's the guy who you want to stand behind?

The thing were he was found guilty in British courts of bring a wife beater because the Judge actually did his job and didn't allow attempts by the defence to smear the victim?
Yup, exactly that, too.
