Old Nick is Junior's father in the comics.Indeed I think even the comics have gone with the notion that old white Nick Fury is the namesake of new black Nick Fury,

Adopted, I assume? That would almost certainly have to be the case if the MCU goes that route anyway.Old Nick is Junior's father in the comics.
Nope, blood relation. Mom is black.Adopted, I assume? That would almost certainly have to be the case if the MCU goes that route anyway.

Is that the most recent preexisting song on a GotG soundtrack so far?And in other MCU news, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 soundtrack list has been released and can be listened to on Spotify.
A good collection of songs that I know and love and those I've never heard of. I'm especially happy to see Florence + the Machine's "Dog Days Are Over" included.

... has anyone checked on what David Hasselhoff's up to lately?
So you know all of those songs and/or listened to all of them already?
Impressive. I only knew a handful of them. One of the joys of these soundtracks is discovering songs I hadnt heard before, including those I should've already.
The songs from Faith No More, Radiohead and Spacehog are especially fucking awful
touche! The Beastie Boys are also back to try to ruin scenes in another Sci Fi film, although at least GotG won't pretend that people will be listening to that shit centuries from now

Sure, but I was looking at it from a real world perspective, and I thought pretty much all of the preexisting music from the first two was at least pre-2000.Also, they've been back to Earth more than once at this point, so it's not like he can't just get new music.
I think that evolution of the soundtrack is meant to reflect some of the subtext of Peter's character growth. In the first movie he only had that one mixtape because he was still trapped in the past, unable to move past his mother's death. At the end of the movie he's finally able to confront his feelings and opens himself up to new experiences . . . and gets a new mixtape that he'd had the whole time and didn't even realise it. After the second movie, he's moving beyond the legacy of either of his parents and defining himself on his own terms . . . and gets some tracks made after '88 to see what he's been missing out on.Sure, but I was looking at it from a real world perspective, and I thought pretty much all of the preexisting music from the first two was at least pre-2000.
You're such a downer.
I hadn't looked at it that way, but that makes a lot of sense.I think that evolution of the soundtrack is meant to reflect some of the subtext of Peter's character growth.
