What grade would you give the Marvel Cinematic Universe? (Ever-Changing Question)

Many Marvel films, including Quantumania, have been box office failures. I even saw a comment saying, "There's probably some concern on the Marvel side about whether Doomsday will be as successful at the box office as Spider-Man, but I think it will be." This is because it hasn't been officially announced yet whether Tom will be Spider-Man in the film. Even the supposedly leaked script doesn't mention anything about Tom being Spider-Man. Maybe he'll appear in Secret Wars.

They had plenty of successful movies that didn't need Spider-Man in them. In fact, a lot of the people who go to his Solo movies don't always go to the MCU Team Up movies he's in. They aren't interested in seeing him with other MCU characters or as part of the greater universe, they just want Spidey when he's Solo.

Yeah, it's so hard to judge with the constantly changing ticket prices and now premium showings.
It's pretty amazing how different the top grossing movies are if you adjust from inflation.
This is Box Office Mojo's list with box office adjusted to 2019 prices, that's the most recent they have.
1. Gone With the Wind- $1,850 Billion
2. Star Wars Ep. IV: A New Hope - $1,629 Billion
3. The Sound of Music - $1,303 Billion
4. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial - $1,297 Billion
5. Titanic - $1,240 Billion
6. The Ten Commandments - $1,198 Billion
7. Jaws - $1,172 Billion
8. Doctor Zhivago - $1,135 Billion
9. The Exorcist - $1,011 Billion
10. Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (the original animated version) - $997 Million

I still don't understand how they decide which series or movies are bringing more subscriptions. There's so much coming out all the time, I don't know how they can possible know which people are signing up for what current movie or show, or just for everything, or for something coming out in the future. Sometime I'll sign up for something coming out months later, because I want to watch other stuff first, like if I want to rewatch the last season of series before the new one comes out.

Only 7 before Endgame, 3 after Endgame for 11 total including Endgame itself. Now 12 with BND.

Ant -man and the Wasp was nowhere near a box office failure. It earned well over 600m (solidly mid tier by MCU standards) and made more than 4 times its production budget.

That's right. For some bizarre reason I don't understand, Marvel expected more. I believe it was similar to BVS in that it had a huge opening that plummeted quickly and was also received poorly.

You're thinking of Quantumania. It earned a lot less (475m) and had a vastly higher budget, (well over 300m) so it did lose money.

AmatW was just succesful, full stop. Nothing ever indicated Marvel was displeased with it, unless I missed some behind the scenes drama. It certainly didn't stop them from making a sequel and even positioning that film to be very central to the new Avengers saga.

You're right--my apologies on that. The first two Ant-Man movies were a lot of fun and a change of pace from the other movies. Quantumania was not a fun movie, IMO.
 
No, it wasn't very fun. It somehow mishandled and wasted Kang the Conqueror AND turned Modok into a sad slapstick punchline.

Kang the Conqueror. And Modok. Both utterly wasted.
