If it's not the actors backing out I wonder if it was as simple as they decided to go with another MCU show they are making and simply choose it over Wonder Man. Something they think will have more broad mainstream appeal. Perhaps also a show more X-Men related since that is going to be important going forward in the MCU.
Another theory is Daredevil has not really gotten a big audience. Wonder Man didn't either but it at least got good critical acclaim. I wonder if they felt they couldn't have two low performing shows on at the same time because they are probably thinking Daredevil 3 will not turn things around for them. Perhaps if Daredevil had been more successful it would be seen as okay to keep Wonder Man around just because of the high critical acclaim.
Like most things in the entertainment business, it probably came down to budgetary issues. Disney plus didn't become the Netflix killer that they and many others, including myself, expected it to be and they're cutting their losses and focusing their time, energy and money elsewhere. Critical acclaim means nothing if it isn't bringing in new subscribers.
Streaming not being the pot of gold most studios hoped for has been known for awhile now. It seems they placed so many of their future bets on it they do not know how to walk away. Partially what are the other options? Network tv or premium cable? First is mostly dead. Surprised they are still willing to spend money on a full season if needed subscribers is so high a 2nd season is unlikely. Some of these things were probably years in development. Started before the reality of streaming became apparent. Too late to cancel.

Really? Both MotU and Mandalorian and Grogu are getting a lot of views on streaming. Like, statistics. Not feelings like yours. Actual numbers. And that has been true for a lot of movies in the last couple of years. Low box office, high viewing numbers on streaming.

He's way too old now, but Michael Jai White would've been the obvious choice for Blade when the MCU started. Martial arts expert to the max, but like Scott Adkins has been stuck in DTV action roles, and when they do get a part in a big movie, they're barely in it.
That really doesn't say much at all about whether streaming services are really that profitable for these companies. Especially when the existence of streaming is probably part of the reason some of these movies don't do so well at the box office.
The studios keep a much larger percentage of the take on PVOD, which is why movies generally get released that way before hitting the streaming service. All these people making the "Mandalorian and Grogu" and "Masters of the Universe" big hits on streaming are paying for the privilege as neither one has hit their respective streaming services yet.

I'm not denying that there's certainly is piracy out there, but those numbers wouldn't be figured into the "big hit on streaming numbers".

Not to rain on anybody's parade, but those pre-sales numbers have to be taken with the caveat that these represent people who were always going on opening weekend, the hardcore fans. Yeah, it's four months out, but that's because now is when the tickets were made available, and they advertised the pre-sale option with the recent trailer. So, those $19 million don't really matter, it's what will accumulate over the next four months.

I was specifically talking about tv shows getting cancelled after one season in streaming. Not at all about movies on streaming. It was about how Disney thought it could dethrone Netflix which has not happened.
