My main concern with Firestar is that her power set is very similar to Johnny Storm?
Or is there a significant difference I am not aware of?
In my memory she is basically a human torch, too.

We've had tons of supersoldiers, tons of sorcerors, tons of asgardians, multiple hulks, multiple stretchy heroes, etc. I think 2 flame people is perfectly fine.

She originally WAS supposed to be the Human Torch, but the show producers apparently were worried that Peter might be seen as homosexual if he had two guy roommates so they asked that one be a girl. Hence, Human Torch became Firestar.

I thought it was because of the same reason he couldn't be used in the Fantastic Four animated series at around the same time, the rights were tied up with another studio who wanted to make a live action Human Torch movie; thus the creation of H.E.R.B.I.E. and Firestar.

But retroactively Iceman always had been gay.

I wonder if he confided in either of his roommates?

Or can you imagine Angelica and Bobby thumbwarring (nightly) over who got to muster up the courage first to tell Peter how they really felt about him?

Sunfire!

Firestar dated Sunfire on Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends???!!!

(News to me. I have the dvd, but the animation is toxic)

Isn't Shiro usually painted as a bit of a dick?

But I suppose it's sexy, that if you're getting heavy with some guy, and you accidentally set him on fire, that he just shrugs it off.

She does microwaves, he does fire.

Granted Iceman wasn't gay in the X-Men movies. He was in love with Rogue. Who is like way younger and nothing like comic book Rogue. Those movies really did play fast and loose with comic book accuracy.

I'm sure if I watched Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends now I'd find more fault -- same with the 1960s Spider-Man cartoon that I loved -- but at the time I thought it was great.

Though I do remembering wondering about that computer console that flipped up from the floor, and wouldn't Aunt May wonder about the computer hanging from the ceiling on the floor below when it wasn't in use?

"I am definitely in love with a girl who I cannot ever touch with my bare hands, so I will never ever touch her because it's just not safe, even though I own thick leather masculine gloves. Isn't it sad that I never have to make the hetero sexual love with that handsome woman who I promise that I am actually enamored with, with feelings that are not just pretend to avoid persecution from a completely different set of bigots, because I would, I would totally take her to town all night long, if it wasn't impossible or very very dangerous... Oh woe is me!"

Of note...

Ian McKellan was done with X-Men, then he read the script for XII, and was amazed to see an easily recognizable parable for the life Cycle of a Young gay man Growing up in the world that fears and hates him.

Maybe there's a false ceiling in the room below.

If Firestar was supposed to be Johnny Storm, then Reed Richards may have installed luxuries of Home that Johnny could hardly live without any more, like when one of us goes home to see mom and dad, but they don't have wifi, and they never fixed the plot later on.

Tesseacts or unstable molecules?

3 flame people if we consider the original android Human Torch a person. Or do you mean just in the MCU? Have we had more than one stretchy hero in the MCU?

More evidence she's not Jean, if she was Jean, they probably would have made her hair more red, not less.
