Well, there is an anticipation thread for Black Panther around here somewhere...it may have been inactive for a while.

Yeah, we can post in the individual movie threads. I don't think bitterly posting "not spoilers" just to prove they're not spoilers isn't necessarily helpful.

This discussion naturally drifted to one about who owns what characters (which isn't unexpected after 118 pages and a lull between movies). That led naturally to bringing up an example that I didn't think was a surprise to anyone because it's part of the publicity for the movie. But it doesn't mean we should go out of our way to post things for future movies without reason.

I know that he said "comics". But why is Freeman's character in the upcoming "Black Panther" MOVIE, since both he and Boseman barely interacted in the last "Captain America" MOVIE?

Why not? This movie could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

IIRC, in the comics, Black Panther is escorted by Martin Freeman's character in America. Then they befriend each other.

But if the director of the film personally released that information in advance and explicitly said that it doesn't spoil the story because it isn't meant to be a surprise, then it is not a spoiler. "Spoiler" does not mean "any advance information whatsoever," it specifically means advance information that would ruin a surprise or interfere with the viewing experience the filmmakers intended. If the filmmakers don't want us to know a piece of information in advance -- like, say, what happened to Tony Stark's parents -- then revealing it in advance would be a spoiler. But this isn't that kind of information. There's been no effort to hide it -- just the opposite. It's being actively promoted. The director announced it himself. There's already one of those big-headed chibi dolls of the character being marketed and sold in advance. They want us to know this.
The chibi doll is a Funko Pop! vinyl figure.

I've not read the comics yet, but from what I've read about the character online, he's mainly associated with Black Panther in the comics.

I hope that's true, a Namor movie would be cool. If they make one, I hope they have at least have part of it in WWII. Namor taking down a Nazi Sub would be cool. I also wonder if they could use the original Human Torch. Maybe if they just call him by his adopted name (Jim Hammond)? I know in the comics they just changed his powers so he's radioactive instead of fire based, maybe they could do that to make him different enough from the FF character (maybe in the MCU he's an android made during research into radioactivity/the atomic bomb). There was an easter egg with him in the first Captain America movie, so it might be possible.

Anyway, regardless of their plans I think a Namor movie would be cool.
