I mean the Bus' callsign is a nice little nod to the larger comic canon without actually giving it a name as such. I expect there is something for the carriers too, maybe 64 will be named now she's non-Shield.

The Bus, the Fridge, the Triskelion, the Hub, all speak to a fun nomenclature when it comes to S.H.I.E.L.D facilities/vehicles. If this naming convention is from the comics, I wouldn't know, but that's how it has always struck me.Maybe Fury's Helicarrier from The Avengers is named similarly?

I kind of meant that her callsign is Shield 616 (Universe 616), but yeah they give them vague nicknames loosely based on some facet of their nature.

The carrier having one now or in future movies would be cool. Just not the Avengers Mobile...

Agents of SHIELD has shown us they lack imagination in naming devices. It could be as simple as The Boat.

Plus, it would cover up the fact that Fury is referring to a ship as a boat, which would offend plenty of Navy people. If it's its actual name, it's more forgiveable.

Serves them right for demanding that spacecraft be called ships and have a "Captain" ranked officer in charge

How long before they promote Captain America anyway? He was a captain back in WW2, gave his life, and saved the world.

I guess he doesn't actually work for anyone. In any sense no longer the US Army Since he wasn't promoted posthumously in 1945 and was probably a consultant with SHIELD and held onto the Captain honorarium while working with the assortment of Agents and Director Fury. And Captain sounds better then Agent Rogers, in effect he would just be another man in black.

Agent America, Commodore America, Admiral America... yeah, they don't ring like Captain America.

General America sounds...generic.

however, I would like a character on Agents of SHIELD call Coulson "Lieutenant America", and I think he'd appreciate it.

In the current run of Avengers, Avengers from a parallel universe have been pulled into the main universe and are causing trouble with the "real" Avengers, Captain America's counterpart is "General America."

He's Army, so Captain falls in a different rank scheme...the next few ranks up would be Major, Lt. Colonel, and Colonel, I believe. Full Colonel is the equivalent of a naval Captain.

Indeed, had Steve Rogers received a Navy commission, he would be Lieutenant America.

Nah even if it is the same grade the root of Lieutenant is not powerful enough. He would have been at least LtCmdr thus Commander America

No connection between them in the comics. But this is a different ficton, after all.
I still can't figure out a plausible theory as to how the Avengers, the fallen S.H.I.E.L.D., HYDRA, and Ultron are going to fit together in Avengers: Age of Ultron. I mean, Captain America: The Winter Soldier didn't even do anything like have a scene where a HYDRA grunt says, "Hey Baron von Strucker, we've acquired Pym's research. He never noticed. We're now ready to begin Project Ultron." So then is Ultron going to be working with HYDRA? Or what?

I think HYDRA is mostly an opening scene type thing. It only exists to bring Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch to the Avengers. I think Ultron is going to be ultimately unrelated.
