Whats the deal? Why has nothing been announced are they too busy making live action to concentrate on animation???

I would love for a Secret Wars movie or a Dark Avengers movie!!

Yeah, I haven't read too much about the future of their DTV line...or if there is even one right now in development. I think the last one was last year's "Thor: Tales of Asgard". According to wikipedia it's sales totalled $1.6 million dollars, which was the lowest of their DTV's. It also says that they had an eight film deal with Lionsgate which seems to have expired as of 2012. So they might be looking for a new distributor.

I didnt like that movie at all I think the last one I liked was Planet Hulk...

That was my favorite out of them, even the two Ultimate adaptions. I also enjoyed the Hulk Vs one. Haven't seen the rest of the others.

Maybe because Marvel Animation sucks at making animated movies.

None of it has been very good in comparison to their Direct Competitor.

Just did a marathon minus the Kid Thor movie...... I am fiening for more marvel animation...

Planet Hulk? Ultimate Avengers 1 & 2?? Those were real good and it seems DC has more time on animation cause they suck at live action with the exception of the Nolan Bat flicks...:)

Those were absolutely forgettable. Thanks for making the case for me. :bolian:

Even I had forgotten those titles before you kindly reminded me of them.

So three black marks on Marvel's record. But not surprising given Marvel Animation is run by an idiot.

On the contrary, the Marvel offerings had some very GOOD entries:

UA 1 and 2
Hulk vs
Tales of Asgard

It also had some stinkers, among them:

Dr Strange
Next Avengers

Now if you want to argue that DC has a higher rate of consistently good offerings, I could agree with that. Though they need to get over the whole Supes/Bats thing.

I'll never understand why people assume that decisions like that are arbitrary choices by the studio or producers. These movies cost money to make, and it's only feasible to keep making them if they make a profit, i.e. if the audience buys them. And the audience that buys these DVDs has proven far more interested in Superman and Batman (and the Justice League) than in other solo heroes, so Warner Bros. wasn't making enough money from the other characters' movies to justify continuing to make them. If anyone has to "get over the whole Supes/Bats thing," it's the DVD-buying audience, because it's their tastes, not the producers' whims, that dictate the content.

I'll never understand...

How is that even possible? You've proven with every single post you've made that you know everything about every subject, and your knowledge is superior to every other person on the board because of that.

I didn't mind the two Green Lantern animated movies, though the first was more entertaining than the second. The team-up movie with Lucy Lawless as Wonder Woman seemed bloated with the number of characters they tried to shove in. Still unsure what the point of the "Hulk Vs." release was. Ok, so he briefly fights Thor. Then he briefly fights the man from down under. And by briefly, I mean each one was about a half-hour, so they could have been episodes of a television series.

I haven't tried any of the Batman solo animated movies. Perhaps someday I will. That reminds me, I picked up the Justice League movie Doom. I should give that a view sometime as well.

I recently got the boxset of all 8 Marvel animated movies. I would have to agree the majority of them were very forgettable.

Ultimate Avengers was a just kiddified version of the the Ultimates first TPB.
UA2 was just lame.
Invinvible Iron Man bored me to tears.
Doctor Strange wasn't bad as I know nothing the character but can't say I'd watch it again.
Next Avengers wasn't as awful as it could have been- Avengers Kids, but I'd still go with the above point.
Hulk Vs was actually decent, esp the Wolverine story.
Planet Hulk also bored me. It was like John Carter with the Hulk :)
And finally Thor: Tales of Asgard I did enjoy as with the movie I found the Asgard stuff a lot more interesting than the Earth bound goings on.

Those are my extensive reviews anyway :D

I just happened to notice this morning that Hulk Vs. was available for streaming on Netflix, so I watched it. It was okay, but it wasn't really made for me, since I'm not the kind of viewer who's more interested in fights than anything else. Mainly what was interesting to me was how the two mini-movies were apparently in different continuities with different interpretations of the Hulk -- since the Wolverine one is apparently in continuity with Wolverine and the X-Men and thus with Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (since they all have Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost in common as writers), while the Thor one was rather different in its portrayal of Asgard than A:EMH is and depicted a nonverbal Hulk like the Kenneth Johnson series and the Ang Lee movie did. Anyway, my main problem with the Thor one is that it felt like hyperbole to say that the Hulk alone could bring about the destruction of the Nine Realms. Sure, he's got a lot of muscle and gets stronger the angrier he gets, yada yada, but these guys have all sorts of magic and stuff. I didn't find the threat very credible as presented.

I don't really remember most of the other Marvel movies all that well; they were mostly okay, not bad but not great. I rather liked Planet Hulk; I always prefer a more intelligent Hulk over just the screaming rage monster, and I think Rick Wasserman did a better Hulk than Fred Tatasciore does.

I think Tales of Asgard is the only one I haven't seen yet. That's also on Netflix streaming, but I think I've had enough for now.

Yeah...the Hulk Vs Wolverine one is indeed in the same continuity as Wolverine and the X-Men as we get the awesome Weapon X flashback. I wish "X-Men: Origins Wolverine" had handled Weapon X like this did. It was pretty much the best part of the film. Hulk Vs Thor was interesting, especially how Loki was used. I was impressed and didn't think I would be.

I agree about the Ultimate adaptions. I was sorely disappointed by both of them. Next Avengers was probably the worst one that I saw.

I decided to watch Thor: Tales of Asgard after all, and I think it was very good, probably the best animated feature Marvel has done. It had a strong story with good characterization and emotion, not just fighting, and I think it handled Thor's journey from youthful arrogance to responsibility and wisdom even better than the live-action movie did. Plus it looked good, with character designs from Young Justice's Phil Bourassa.

The title made me expect an anthology or something more picaresque. I wonder if instead they had plans or hopes to do a series of these. It would be cool if they did more installments from the same creative team.

I think the initial plan was for it to be the start of a series...but their contract with Lionsgate expired and they weren't able to continue it, or do anything else in the line. Maybe we'll have some news at SDCC next month.
