Marvel All New, All Different - Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I really don't buy Kitty defecting to Cyclops. That does not make sense to me at all.

1) Kitty likes the dark side. Pete Wisdom, anyone?
2) Her future self was on the bad/ends-justify-the-means side.

In short, she's not all puppies and unicorns and rainbows.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Captain Universe killed ALL the Builders? I did not get that impression at all.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Sorry for doubting you Light.

I saw what captain Universe did in the flash back but I struggled to remember actually reading it happen.

You have to remember, that for an entire species, there was only a handful of Builders et all.

Who wants to give me a sleazy and inappropriate high five for Sam and Smasher hooking up?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

They did some smashing, all right...!

If Captain Universe killing a couple Builders was the true turning point of the war, than that's pretty anti-climactic. All the loss and struggle and the planets working together didn't really mean anything, but this one god-like character on the team just washes the problem away? I thought Ex Nihilo leading a revolution of Gardeners would have made a lot more sense, one led by Captain Universe if need be.

Not to mention the fact that in New Avengers we learned that there are other Builders in the other universes, so basically defeating this batch only accounts for like 1% of them.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Now that I've read X-Men: Battle of the Atom #2...

If the idea was to celebrate 50 years of X-Men history, this was a horrible, horrible project.

I won't repeat my litany of complaints from the last two months. This issue seemed to have been designed more to set up future plotlines than to resolve outstanding plot threads.

I guess Jean-Xorn is the young Jean Grey, who never returned to the past, all grown up. That seems like a logical implication of the last two issues.

I'm not bothered by Kitty Pryde's decision at the end. Nor of the decision of the original five to throw in with Cyclops.

In the final analysis, Battle of the Atom is something I cannot recommend.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I would have enjoyed the little homage to the cover of X men 1 if it hadn't been so crappily drawn.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Battle of the Atom just kind of spun its wheels, went nowhere, then stopped. The only thing that happened was the Kitty and the O5 changed Bendis books. Now they're in the one I was getting ready to drop. Grr...

It's almost like they had your house bugged.

Marvel working hand in hand with the NSA to make comics better!

Joe Q hasn't been Editor in Chief since he was promoted and Double A was appointed as his successor back in 2011. Joe Q has the equivalent of Geoff Johns position at DC as Chief Creative Officer.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

The current volume of Daredevil ends with 36, but apparently the same creative team will be involved with a re-launch.
What a crock of shit.
"If the series is in fact coming to a close, it's likely due to a story-driven reason."
Sorry, not a reason. Comics existed for decades with story lines coming and going while the numbering survived.

I miss the days when a change in direction and/or creative meant just advertising the newness with in-house ads.

The days of a title, from either of the big two, getting to a number 50 now are few and far between.

I was waiting on TPB for DD anyway so I'm glad I wasn't vested in the monthly title thinking my monthly purchase would keep it going. Clearly Marvel doesn't care, they are going to relaunch again and again and again just to get the artificial sales bump from the suckers who still think #1 means "starting point". It really doesn't you fools and you aren't going to flip this #1 in 10 years for a downpayment on something. Just stop being suckers for #1's already.

*rant over, sorry*

I read somewhere that the new DD series gong to be digital only (digital first?).

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I think I might be the only one who enjoyed BoTA. It definitely had it's bumps along the way, and could have been told in far less issues I feel (they certainly wasted a lot of time in the beginning). But I liked it, and out of it I've decided to collect "Uncanny X-Men" to the chagrin of a friend of mine who doesn't really care for Bendis' writing on it (you know who you are ;)).

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I read Waid was going to do a two-issue digital only epilogue to his DD run.
Then the reboot is regular print.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Yeah just the epilogue or as they called it "coda" is digital only. The actual final arc is still print.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Is this punishment for a poor run, or incentive for the dinosaurs to discover the internet?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

^ Most likely the latter since Waid's run has been awesome :) Marvel's been slowly pushing their digital content now.
