Marvel All New, All Different - Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

STEPhon IT, no Marvel book will ever again see issue 150 unless its a renumber. Expect new #1's every 4 - 5 years. They are almost moving to a new #1 every calendar year as they contemplate "seasons" of comics much like a TV series.

That's a shame. Paul Ryan was a really good artist. He never got the fame and adoration that guys like George Perez or John Buscema did, but he was really solid and a good storyteller. RIP, Paul. :(

I also really enjoyed the Edmondson/Noto Black Widow title. As a fan of the character I was going to get BW#1 by Waid/Samnee
I agree with Kirk, this time, that the issue left a lot to be desired. It didn't break new ground. Worse, it used a tired trope surrounding Natasha and her relationship with SHIELD/Maria Hill. I'm going to trust in Waid to further detail what all the fuss is about, why Natasha took it, why she need it or didn't trust Maria/SHIELD with it, whatever IT turns out to be. I'm not a fan of the art style. I've see worse though.
I give BW#1 about 2.5 out of 5 stars. As an introduction issue, if I was someone trying the character out for the first time I'd be even more underwhelmed and likely not come back. The book primarily relies on people already being hooked on the character to come back for more. Secondarily perhaps knowing something about the creative team and Waid's reputation.

I say this as someone who tries characters I'm not as deeply tied in with. Black Knight being prime. That first issue gave much more backstory and narrative drops to allow the reader to know what and where the story would go. The irony being that's also Marvel's first cancelled book sadly. Lot's of potential there being squandered.

Meh. I found the Edmondson/Noto book to be generic and uninspired. When the second issue was released, I couldn't even remember then reading the first.

Jane Foster and Sam Wilson?

Thoughts?

:)

(There's been kissing, but we're not sure if they're really into each other. This information is almost 3 months old. Get with the plot!)

I just find it weird that Cap might accidentally crush her cancer riddled husk of a mortal body with too tight an embrace, while Thor might juice his mortal torso with too affectionate a snuggle whenever she's cosplaying her exboyfriend.

Now about her magic wardrobe that appears when Jane turns into Thor, is that always a new bodice, is it cleaned and repaired between usings, because if she's having naked Goddess time with Sam and changes back into Jane, later on when she transforms back into the Goddess of Thunder... Will she still be mostly to maybe all naked?

(There was an issue of Power Pack all about this. There were interdimensional Ompalumpas who did the cosmic laundering for a lot of Super heroes who transform or shape shift, and dump their wardrobe in subspace when not in use. Although that was a tech based problem, and this is about magic. I have some memory of Jarivs sending out to a drycleaners to deal with the Avengers dirty capes.)

Back in the old days, Valkyrie was stuck with her old uniform even when somebody gave her a new one, because it reappeared whenever she drew her sword. So it seemed to be recreated from scratch every time. Thor, too, always seemed rip and stain free every time he did his cane-and-hammer trick. Asgardian transformation magic always seems to work the same.

Is it possible that all Asgardians wear magically self cleaning, self repairing clothes?

If the Gods could control when their blouse or slacks cleaned and when it repaired, and it wasn't all set to automatic reset... If magic is science we can't understand, Tony Stark is going to walk up to Thor someday and say "Nanites? It's been nanites all along you blonde hairdoo!? Why didn't you just tell me that it was nanites?"

Is the inhuman Genetic Council Dead and buried?

Well, I suppose if Johnny was allowed to date Medusa's sister (Crystal) in the 60s and 80s, then I suppose that they would let the Queen date the Human Torch now, although the Council should retire from laying down instruction until they get a thumb on all the millions of NUhumans entering the Inhuman Gene Pool.

Seriously dude, Sisters? Are you ####ing kidding me?

(If Sister-in-laws count, John would have to mack with the Scarlet Witch to get a hat trick.)

This is the most important thing ever.

The Wrecker named his Magic Crow Bar at some point in the last 50 years.

Barbara.

I'm not sure if Marvel is getting another rib in at FOX, or if Ultimates is just a super weirdo book.

Galactus...

The Devourer of Worlds, devours no more. In the pages of the Ultimates, the Blue Marvel, satiated Galactus' hunger, and reversed his powerset. The devourer of worlds is now Galactus, the Life bringer, the Seeder of Worlds.

I like the Ultimates book, and not just for that gorgeous Kenneth Rochafort art.

Captain America #7...
Non-shocker! Steve Rogers is restored to his youth just in time for his new movie to come out!

Yeah,Uultimates has been surprisingly great. As for Cap, I expected it, and I'm glad.

I like FalCap, but I prefer Steve with the shield. Everyone knew he wasn't going to stay old, and I think he works better on the field then in a desk job position anyway. They're both going to be Captain America apparently, which is fine with me.

I haven't checked out the Hawkeye comics yet, but I still thought that was pretty fun.

i loved Bucky as Cap and i like Sam as Cap. i just hate how when Steve was aged forward he became this grumpy, stupid, irrational character. i hope all that characterization is gone. also, i wanted Maria Hill to die. i absolutely hate that character.
