I did actually try to read Superior Spider-Man. I wasn't a fan of the idea, but I read the first two or three issues. I really disliked it, so I didn't continue. So, I did give it a chance. In general, I can be ok with changes like that (I thought that Dick grayson as Batman, for example, was decent, and Wally West Flash was great for years), I just didn't find Doc Ock to be a "superior" Spider-Man. I didn't like the character, and I didn't like how Dan Slott lowered the IQ of everyone around Peter to justify no one really considering him being a different person.
As for Thor, I loathed Jason Aaron's run with the real thor, and I find Jane Foster as thor to be even worse. As an idea its stupid (whoever holds the hammer of Thor gets his power, not his damn name which isn't a title anyway but the first name he was given at birth), and the writing is poor. She's a bad character that is taking away screen (or is that page?) time from a character I like because a mediocre writer doesn't want to write for the real character. Between Inferior Doc Ock and Jane Thorster, Marvel has the worst heroes of this type in modern comics. I tried them, and hated them. We got the real Spider-Man back (although Dan slott really needs to leave the book), so I know eventually Jane Foster will be gone, and a good writer will probably restore the name, powers (and arm) of the real Thor. Just like how Steve Rogers will be de-aged and given his shield back. Until then, its irritating that Marvel won't publish books with their best characters, and has horrible replacements.
Eventually the real characters will come back, but it can take years. It keeps going in cycles, and as a Marvel reader its infuriating. First I got no Spider-Man, then I got no readable Avengers books, now there is no real Thor or Steve Rogers. I just want, I don't know, a year where all the real characters are back, the Avengers have a classic roster, the X-Men aren't sterile/endangered, the F4 have a book, etc. Basically, I want Marvel to drop the gimmicks and just put out good stuff with their real characters. It will all go in circles, but it never seems to happen all at once. For every thing that is restored, something else gets changed.
