Marvel All New, All Different - Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Looks like he's still leaving X-men though. He didn't seem to last that long on it compared to his Ultimate Spider-man, Daredevil and Avengers stuff though.

I wonder who will be taking over?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I do like Brian Bendis a lot. I have had a love/hate relationship with his work since I first discovered him on "Darerdevil". I just have never thought he was right for X-Men.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

The mental snapshot in my head of Bendis is from 10 years ago.

I just saw what he looks like now.

The mother ####ing Thing.

When did that happen?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Avengers #41. Well, that didn't take long. Kinda ruins one of my favorite moments from the last few years of comics... it was also pretty bizarre that the issue starred an Ultimate character...

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I've liked Bendis's run on Uncanny X-Men, even if his All New X-Men has only been average. I hope they get someone good to replace him.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I feel mostly positive about Bendis-X-Men but the decompression really kills me sometimes.

Star Wars #2 was another excellent issue. It's so big and cinematic and it FEELS like the movies. The scenario in this one was just classic.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

so glad he is leaving the X-Books. his run has been pretty terrible.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

You'll be begging him to return if they reveal his successor to be someone like Humphries.

Maybe he can revamp FF next!

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Oh Rao don't let it be Humphries. I still want to know what book G. Willow Wilson is supposed to get that she teased a couple weeks back at the retreat.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

keep Bendis the hell away from the FF. in fact he should stay away from all team books.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Marvel Cosmic? no way. his Guardians is beyond terrible.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I'd actually like him to tackle something like Dr. Strange. His take with Strange in Avengers or Magik in X-Men wasn't too bad. Maybe he can do Spider-Man next after Slott though judging by Bendis's Moon Knight it's not just team books that he is bad at. He may have just lost his writing mojo.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I'd like Bendis on F4. Except for the brief Future Foundation book that had She-Hulk, Scott Lang, medusa, etc, everything F4 related has been pretty bad since Hickman left. I think Bendis could do a solid F4 book.

I don't know exactly who I want on X-Men. Charles Soule would be cool, but he's probably not considered enough of a "name" by Marvel. I hope to god it isn't Hickman or Remender. I'd be happy with both of them just kind of fading away once Secret Wars starts.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I'd definitely go for Bendis on a Luke Cage or Fantastic Four series. Heck, I'd like to see him even go for something less profile these days like Cloak & Dagger.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Oh, no.

Luke Cage leading the Fantastic Four?

Playing with the real Fantastic four is nice, but making weird new versions is also cool.

My lists from childhood assured me that Luke was already in the Fantastic Four in the 1970s, but really how long did that last?

(google)

1.) Luke Cage
Despite the fact that he's one of the few superheroes who we've seen having anal sex, Luke Cage's modern adventures are positively milquetoast compared to his 1970s antics. Back in the day, Luke used to dress in skin-tight polyester and chains, scream insane catchphrases, and request a fee for his superheroics (hence his title Luke Cage, Hero for Hire). In 1973, Luke first encountered the Fantastic Four when Dr. Doom bilked him out of a $200 bill. Doom had hired Cage to destroy some runaway Doombots (who were sick of life in racist Latveria), and when the despot stiffed our hero, Luke stole the Fantastic Four's jet and made a house call to Doom's castle.
Needless to say, Luke got his $200. In 1976, Reed hired Luke to replace The Thing for three issues. Ben Grimm had reverted to his human form, and Reed needed a new powerhouse on the team. Comedy promptly ensued.
