Marvel All New, All Different - Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I gave up on the Inhumans books. They weren't bad, but they just weren't interesting enough. I never particularly cared about those characters.

I came into the books already liking the Inhumans, so I can't say how they'd be if you never cared about them. As someone who has enjoyed the characters in the past (while mostly skipping their War of Kings and "Universal Inhumans" eras), I enjoy the books and the direction they're going a lot. I wish Marvel wasn't screwing over the mutants to do it (since I like the X-Men a bit more than the Inhumans), but I am glad to see the inhumans get more attention.

I've read most of the Inhuman stories (with the exception of the 70s series). I didn't really like Realm of Kings. I thought this current book is the strongest it's been in awhile. This last issue with them fucking with Tony Stark was probably the best yet.

You can say that Marvel editorial wants the Inhumans to be stand-ins for mutants, but the stories themselves simply aren't that. These are stories that wouldn't really work with an X-Book.

How you worded that, it sounds like you don't know that there are two different Inhuman Titles, which is silly, becuase of course you know there's two of them. The monkeys running your local store should have put you on to the right course of action, unless they were too stoned always.

All-New Inhumans is written by James Asmus and Charles Soule, with art by Stefano Caselli.

Uncanny Inhumans is written and pencilled by Charles Soule and penciled by Steve McNiven.

Although if they're both written by Soule, (which I hadn't noticed before typing this right now) then I suppose it's a super book, tying not to scare people by claiming truthfully that it's a bimonthly sell trying to drown you in debt.

Actually, the books follow two different groups of Inhumans doing different things. One follows Crystal, Gorgon and company as they travel the world finding and helping inhumans who have popped up. The other focuses on Queen Medusa, Attilan and sometimes Black Bolt. They aren't a secret "super book". They're all on the same side, but their adventures are different. Its like how the X-Men books could have Uncanny X-Men and X-Men Legacy, but they were telling completely different stories with different characters but connected in that they were both books starring X-Men characters. They belong to the same overall group, and they're on the same side, but they aren't directly connected and one isn't required reading for the other (outside of possible crossovers of course, but in general its different stories).

Uncanny is, imo, the flagship book. So, if I'm referring to a single book, it's Uncanny.

All-New was scripted by Soule with the dialogue by Asmus, but the latest arc was entirely by Asmus. The two have different teams and have, so far, followed different things. All-New is about going into the world, protecting new Inhuman groups and figuring out why these Sky Spears appeared. Uncanny has been about the trials and tribulations of the royal family.

I'm glad Marvel is now able to use the name Champions once again. However, this lineup to reintroduce the brand doesn't excite me. This lineup should be used to rehab the New Warriors brand, maybe toss in Speedball for good measure.

I'd like to see this as a lineup to reintroduce Champions:
Black Widow (on the outs with SHIELD in her ongoing)
Hercules (just cancelled series, Herc needs a home)
Black Knight (just cancelled series & needs followup on his situation with Steve)
Ghost Rider (Alejandra Blaze, this female GR needs followup & his way more interesting to me than Robbie)
Man-Thing (use like he was in Thunderbolts, reinforce his ability to speak again that the Howling Commandoes book forgot about)
X-Men character: for the sake of tying back, gotta be one that is suitable I'm just not up on X-events

I've come to the conclusion that we're never going to see the Black Knight again. :( He's going to rot away in Weirdworld. So much needed to be resolved from that book. Frank Tieri did reveal some of his plans on Twitter- more about the Ebony Blade and where the meteor it was carved from came from; and that the Eternal Sersi was the Queen of the Amazons. A Dane/Sersi reunion would have been awesome. And I was hoping that Rebecca, the Black Knight historian, would turn out to be the unknown daughter of the evil Black Knight, Dane's uncle, Nathan Garrett. There's a reason she stayed behind when the Uncanny Avengers left...

As for all the other crap, the thing that pisses me off the most: Wasp finally gets a solo book. It's not Janet Van Dyne, it's the new Wasp, Hank Pym's daughter. That's a slap in the face to fans of the character.

We'll see a Black Knight again, Marvel can't let a name rot away. But, knowing modern Marvel, it will be a new Black Knight who is a 12 year old Canadian who finds the ebony blade somewhere and gets powers He-Man style

As for Wasp, I don't dislike the new one, but I'd have liked to see the original Wasp get a book, not a new character that only exists because of the Ant-Man movie. Marvel just doesn't want to give books to most established characters now. They just want to take name recognition and use that with lame new characters. Why make a totally new character when you can kill/depower/forget about an old character and use their name for someone else? That's Marvel's current, pretty annoying philosophy right now.

i was hopeful Marvel would do a one shot or giant size comic that would kind of tie up the loose ends of both Weirdwold and Black Knight.

Black Knight is kind of a public domain name (there have been so many in culture over the centuries!), like Thor and Hercules. The name won't go anywhere. I just doubt we'll ever see Dane Whitman again. There have been other BKs, but they've been fakes (like the one in Black Panther a decade ago).

A one shot to finish it off would be nice.

Stop giving them ideas!!!! ;)

What? You don't like the MCU being forced into the mainline comics? Say it with me. Corporate.Synergy.

I've read most of the Inhuman stories (with the exception of the 70s series). I didn't really like Realm of Kings.

The Realm of Kings Inhumans story was weak. But War of Kings had been done very well and the premise that was left with the Inhumans ruling the Kree had enormous potential. It's just too bad Hickman took a dump on it when it really could have slide in nicely with his Universal Inhumans concept.

Oh, Dane won't go away forever. He's been around since 1967. Marvel doesn't just ignore a character that's been around that long, especially a former Avenger. Now, I can't say whether he'll come back as the Black Knight, or if Marvel will just make a new BK eventually. But, i'd say the odds of Dane Whitman never coming back are close to zero. Even if its just a small part or cameo, he'll show up somewhere. If the MCU ever gets around to using him (which isn't impossible), he'd probably show up in a decent sized role somewhere. Very few characters ever completely disappear from Marvel comics, even if they go in limbo for awhile. I'd say that BK isn't obscure enough to just never show up.

Heck, when it comes to obscure Avengers characters, Swordsman has come back once or twice since he died, and he's more obscure then Black Knight. Not counting Avengers members, even Shamrock has shown up long past the time where anyone outside of hardcore comics fans remembered her. So, never say never with him. He'll pop up again, although whether its in small cameos or a bigger role is something that no one can predict.

Yeah, if they are making a series for Solo, Foolkiller and Prowler (???), there's no way Black Knight is forgotten. It's just a matter of time.

With the right new hook, any of those books could become a surprise best seller.

1. Solo is a paid contractor for the US Army to take out Isis. Make it super gritty, but all so like propaganda comics from world war two. As long as the author knows what a terrorist is, and doesn't get blanketly racist, it should sell well considering the current geopolitical climate that really needs to be honestly addressed.

2. Foolkiller is an internet "actor" how follows the Punisher around, and then re-stages/positions the Punisher's killsites to look like he has his own war on crime, to make make money and gain celebrity on the dark web.

3. I'd set a Prowler book in the past, what Marvel looked like in the 70s or 80s, but with flip-phones, like with what they did with Sentry or Alias, showing Hobbie's progression from small time 2nd story man to 3rd rate super villain.

Foolkiller follows Mr. T around taking note of the fools that are pitied. He then kills said fools.

In the B plot, Mr. T is accused of the crimes and must prove his innocence.

Okay
Okay, Banner's dead, Cap's Hydra, Hawkeye's a muderer. Thor's unworthy and Stark's quit. Black Widow bettter watch her back. The comics have it in for the movie Avengers
You forgot
The mutants are facing extinction (only a few hundred left and they're all sterile), Dr Doom is Iron Man, Riri Williams is also Iron Man, the FF are split up (Reed, Sue and their kids are MIA), Rhodey is dead, Hank Pym is Ultron and She-Hulk is in a coma.

All I have left is Spider-Man and Daredevil, and Spidey has been underwhelming of late.
