MAJOR star wars TCW spoiler!!!!

^ And they squander such a potentially promising cameo on a non-pre-TPM-flashback ep. :p

I was hoping we'd get a pre-TPM flashback episode with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan too. But I'll take this.

Obi-Wan did mention Qui-Gon during the Mandalore arc, saying that the two had spent a year on Mandalore protecting the Duchess.

OK, I'd actually love seeing young Obi-Wan and Satine fall in love. Maybe that way, Star Wars would finally be able to get a decent forbidden love story.

And no, the awkward ANH/TESB incest thing didn't count...

^ Two obvious possibilities:

- Lucas is saving all pre-TPM stuff for more cartoons later.
- Neeson only gave the crew five Skype minutes of dull monotone lecturing, with no tonal modulation or emotional effort needed.

Yeah, Liam Neeson didn't seem to have the right voicing for a cartoon. Either that, or William Hurt has been coaching him. Still it's cool he did it and I'll assume it was an awkward process and not that he was just phoning in it.

It's funny. The two most interesting characters to me are Qui Gon and Darth Maul. And both have absolutely nothing to do with the Original Trilogy, and both die in Phantom Menace.

I actually like The Phantom Menace on its own terms and it's probably my favorite of the prequels though I know I'm really in the minority of that one.

In ROTS Qui-Gon and Yoda have a scene together when Yoda is in meditation at the medical facility about how he will now be teaching Yoda about being a Force ghost. It is in the ROTS script. I don't think it was ever filmed though. This is exciting news indeed, at least for me. I always liked Qui-Gon. In fact you can kind of tell that Yoda was in a conversation with someone because he sighs and opens his eyes as the camera pans around as he turns his neck to face the others.

I hope that when he was recording his VO for TCW that he also recorded his cameo for ROTS. He wasn't able to record it back in 05 because of a motorcycle accident he was in. No reason he can't do it now for the Blu-Rays.

Holy shit! I usually only catch random episodes here and there of Clone Wars, but this news has my interest piqued.

That would be cool, but as I'm sure you know, there's a lot more to recording an appearance than there is to a VO. There would have to be make-up, hair, costume, bluescreen etc. I don't see it happening.

But you're far from being alone in this. :D

TPM is, in my opinion, the least sterile of the three. It wasn't written even nearly as badly as the other two (especially when it comes to dialogue), it's got that childish appeal about it and has far nicer visuals (architectural design, costume design, colour palette.

Actually Liam wasn't going to make a physical appearance in RotS. The way the scene played was that Yoda was meditating and Qui-Gon spoke to him as a disembodied voice ala Obi-Wan in ANH.

222 INT. POLIS MASSA-OBSERVATION DOME-NIGHT

On the isolated asteroid of Polis Massa, YODA meditates.

YODA: Failed to stop the Sith Lord, I have. Still much to learn, there is ...

QUI -GON: (V.O.) Patience. You will have time. I did not. When I became one with the Force I made a great discovery. With my training, you will be able to merge with the Force at will. Your physical self will fade away, but you will still retain your consciousness. You will become more powerful than any Sith.

YODA: Eternal consciousness.

QUI-GON: (V.O.) The ability to defy oblivion can be achieved, but only for oneself. It was accomplished by a Shaman of the Whills. It is a state acquired through compassion, not greed.

YODA: . . . to become one with the Force, and influence still have . . . A power greater than all, it is.

QUI-GON: (V.O.) You will learn to let go of everything. No attachment, no thought of self. No physical self.

YODA: A great Jedi Master, you have become, Qui-Gon Jinn. Your apprentice I gratefully become.

YODA thinks about this for a minute, then BAIL ORGANA enters the room and breaks his meditation.

BAIL ORGANA: Excuse me, Master Yoda. Obi-Wan Kenobi has made contact.

While I disagree that RotS was badly written I too truly enjoy TPM. For me it isn't a guilty pleasure. It's just a pleasure. Can't wait to show it to my kids next year when it's released in 3D.

^ Didn't know that the ROTS would just have been a voiceover. Yes, a recording of the scene would be good (but would Yoda's part have to be altered?)

While TMP is still my least favourite of the prequels, it was on tv a few weeks ago and I dopped in and out of it and enjoyed it. The lightsaber duel at the end can hold its own with any sequence from Star Wars, old or new.

I still get a kick out of hearing Nute Gunray speak.

And in a huge turn of events, there in fact appear to be people who like The Phantom Menace! :D

Gaith, dude, breathe... Don't wreck your PC, it isn't worth it. :D
