Maisie Williams' character is getting a novel

Like the limitless potential of Benny Summerfield or River Song, the adventures of Ashildr seems tailor made for Big Finish
We'll have to wait until Capaldi's term is done for that. Big Finish's license only allows them to cover to the end of Matt Smith's run, and won't allow anything from Capaldi's era until after the next Doctor has started.

not to get off track, but would that mean that River isn't going to appear on-screen again since her audios began the same month as "The Husbands of River Song"?

It's a one-way street. Big Finish can only take material up to The Time of the Doctor. The show can take anything from any licensed material, including its own past, at any time.

River can appear on screen whenever Moffat wants her to. The only thing limiting her usage on the show is Alex Kingston's availability.

That cover looks odd. No, I will not read it - or let me put it this way: If I would read novels based on tv shows I would skip this one.
