Madman's Enterprise, Version 6

Thanks. :)

Yes, you're correct... the "real thing" does have a rounder lower edge. I built it straighter, on purpose... I just like it better that way. There's a few things like that all over, that I had built a little "off" all over, in my previous ones, that I kind of liked, so I kept. The thinner neck at the front is another one of those things. :)

Final update for the night... got almost all of the top of the saucer done.

I had to turn the lights up a little, too. :)

Have fun, guys...

Thanks. :)

Yeah, I decided to add that... they're on the movie model, too. :) Kind of weird for a brand new ship, but I guess they had to test them at full power. :)

I like seeing the results when skilled artists can replicate something, such as the NuPrise.

But I don't mind when those same artists then go off on a tangent and do it the way THEY would have done it if they were the original designers.

On the NuPrise, I pretty much kinda like it... except for the placement of the nacelles. I think they put the nacelles too close together, and the support pylons are too upright, making it look slightly dorky.

Have you or anyone else constructed a NuPrise with the nacelles set apart wider?

I haven't... but, I have been throwing ideas around in my head about what a refit to this ship could look like. I an kind of waiting to see if they modify it at all for the upcoming movie... how cool would it be to have a a slightly different ship for each of the new movies?

It would be TERRIBLE, unless it was WONDERFUL - depending on whether or not the changes made sense.

One good improvement would be to get the beer bottling factory out of the engine room. I mean, I enjoy sneaking a nice beer on my lunch break as much as the next guy, but come ON!

I'm reminded of a series of cartoon images Hugo award winning illustrator Phil Foglio drew during the mid 70s, something he titled the "Star Trek Primer". Each selection was accompanied by text that read like a first grade primer. We all know the type. "See Spot. See Spot run. 'Run, Spot; run!'" The drawing for Scotty depicts him standing at a console pulling a lever. Exept that mechanism is a beer "tap" and liquid pours from it into a frosted mug.

Who ever considered how prophetic that doodle would become! :wtf:

Sincerely,

Bill

Yeah, I liked the way the set looked, but I think they could have covered up the valves and stuff that was visible. :) They could have done without that long shot, from above, too....

Anyway, been texturing some more. Don't have much time left, before the deadline. :)

I've a few problems to fix, but I think it's coming along pretty good.

What do ya'll think?

Indeed! VERY drool-worthy... You can park one underneath my Christmas Tree this year, I won't mind a bit. :)

Cheers,
-CM-

Thanks. :)

Been plugging along... getting close. :)

I hope to have the rest of the textures done this afternoon, so I can start adding lights.

Have fun, guys...

Thanks. :)

Been tweaking textures and stuff... I made this test image, to see if it is going to look like I wanted. Since it does, I'm going to go ahead and light the thing up. :)

Hopefully I'll make my self imposed deadline, but my brother just brought me Black Ops for my birthday...

:)

 Too true! And thanks for reminding me of the Primer - I had one and really got a kick out of it; now I can't find one to save my life :(.
