Madman's Enterprise, Version 6

^Interesting! In all the times I've seen the new Enterprise, I don't think I ever saw (or noticed) the lengthwise slots cut into the bottom of the nacelles.

Thanks for the images, Johnny. Those were the only ones I was able to find.

Thanks BJ, for commenting on those slots... I had forgotten to model them into my Nacelles. :) They're there, now...

Unbelievably, I had some time to work on this tonight. Didn't get a lot done, just mainly some detailing, and the bridge, and the sensor area.

More later.... if anyone runs across any more screens of the vessel simulator, let me know. :)

Have fun, guys...

Hey, everybody.... long time between updates. :) I wish that work didn't interfere with this so much.... :)

We've got windows, and details around the top of the saucer.

I did have a discussion about the windows, though... I'm convinced the real thing has square cornered windows, but a friend of mine swears they aren't. What do you guys think?

Made some more progress.... mainly just details and stuff.

More later on... it's definitely getting there, though. :)

Have fun, guys...

Thanks. :)

It's not dead! I do wish I had more time to work on this thing, though...

I didn't get a lot done tonight, but I added that little lip to the outside of the nacelle cowlings, docking ports, and various little detail parts all over. My goal is to have this thing done by my birthday, on the 11th. :)

I built my first version two years ago, starting on my birthday, which happened to be the day that first infamous image of the ship was first released, so I thought it would be an appropriate deadline. :)

Anyway, pictures...

What do ya'll think? :)

"infamous"? :)
(I'm reminded of the line from "Three Amigos" LOL)
Anyway,
Beautiful work. Can't wait to see this version textured up and in action. (Something like the scene where she's just pure full-bore blasting away at the Narada as it sucks into itself).

Thanks. :) I can't wait for it to be done, myself... I'm ready to start building wallpapers, now. :)

I only said "infamous" because it had this place, and others, so stirred up, whether people liked it, or hated it. :)

More soon...

Hey guys, I reached a major milestone last night. :)

All the main parts are together... now it's just time to add some more detail parts, and textures, then lighting. :)

I think you've done an excellent job with this version (I thought your other versions were pretty excellent too)!

I'm sorry, Madman. I love the work you've been doing on this. I just haven't commented because then I'd have to throw in some remark about how much I hate most of the Trek 2009 Enterprise. Then Dennis would make a clever quip about my taste in starships. Then I'd make an ill-tempered, snarky response. Then ST-One would get on my case for being a basher. Then all Hell would break loose and your wonderful thread would grind to a halt while moderators rushed in with batons held high to bash hard heads. Blood and vitriol just aren't good for creativity.

It'd just be better if I say "nice job" and ask to see some mesh closeups of parts of the model that you think might be instructive to the rest of us.

Note: Just in case I didn't correctly convey the sentiment, my above post is not intended to be a dig on any individuals in particular, but tongue-in-cheek satire of our community as a whole. You'd think we'd get along better than we do given our common interests, but we can't seem to resist wars any better than the rest of humanity.

Nah - I think it being the middle of the week the crowds get a little sparse sometimes ;-)

Tough crowd around here, I guess. :)

I didn't make anyone mad, did I? :)

Your wonderful work simply left us speechless.:techman:

Thanks, guys. :)

True that. :) It is pretty fun, to get everybody stirred up, though. :)

I started texturing tonight... The saucer is always first, of course. This this is probably going to go pretty fast, since my last set of textures weren't that bad... I'm just going to spruce them up a little.

More updates tonight. :)

This is easily your best Enterprise yet MadMan, although im afraid I have one nitpick...

Isn't the bottom rim of the saucer more rounded? Its like that on the toy, and while that certainly isnt the most accurate thing around, Im sure the actual filming mesh has the rounded rim to it. Aside from that, it looks stunning.
