Peter got hold of some/all of Dr Octopus's memories during the beginning of Superior Spider-Man, so remembered/experienced May blowing Otto on the day of their wedding. (Not a joke. Actually happened.)

This may be why Peter died.

Okay. What issue? I have to read this.

And which version of May was that, not the hot one?

meddling kids?

Well Peter was barely out of Grad School?

Okay. What issue? I have to read this.

Amazing Spider-Man 698 - 700.

Otto and Petter are using each others memories as weapons in a mind war, to achieve total control of Peter's body.

Wrinkly Aunt May made sense to me because my parents were only-children, so my "aunts" were actually my parents' aunts, and I never knew them when they weren't wrinkly. Having dreamy Marissa Tomei as Aunt May was... disturbing. An effect compounded by iconic beauty Diane Lane being cast as Ma Kent.

^ Ross Andru art...pass.

At least that issue had a great Gil Kane cover.

I've always thought the anti-elderly Aunt May group (where Spider-Man films were concerned) were far too into the idea of the "hot aunt" (the stuff of a wall of psychology books), as if they placed themselves in teenaged Peter's place, living with a with a "hot", older--but not "too" old--aunt (one Peter alternates between calling her "Aunt May" and just "May"). That ties to the type of fantasies i've heard some MCU fans express the second Tomei was announced as May. Disturbing to say the least.

I'd say Lane was made to appear older, a bit weather-worn and mature, as opposed to Tomei's May, where her physical appearance (how "hot" she was in appearance) was part of the character.

It's about reality, not hotness.

Am I the only person on this board who has aunt's that are roughly their parents age? Is this not normal? Are the sisters of all of your parents all really 40 years older than them?

Both my parents had big families. I had aunts in their late teens and in their thirties. I also have cousins who are nearly twenty years apart in age.

No, it's just that we had "uncles" that were really great-uncles or something like that.

For a while there May dated Jarvis, the Avengers Butler.

Transposing that relationship to the MCU, May would have been getting catfished by the old AI that used to control Tony's Iron Man armour... or... you know, a love triangle between Aunt May and Vision and Scarlet Witch, since Vision is the red wood that grew from Jarvis' seed.

Or she's dated the old British guy who hung out with Agent Carter.

Yes. But we're not talking about a great aunt. She's the literal sibling of Peter's parent.

(Kind of proving my point at the same time, she should have been called a "great-aunt" from the get go if she was drawn like that)

I think it simply comes to down the fact that people don't visibly age the same way they used to. It's like realizing that Michelle Pfeiffer, Uma Thurman, Lisa Kudrow, and Gillian Anderson are all old enough to play The Golden Girls.

An effect compounded by iconic beauty Diane Lane being cast as Ma Kent.
Not to mention Annette O'Toole and John Schneider as the Kents.

May actually isn't related to Peter in the 616 comics, Ben was the blood relation.

In the Ultimate comics, apparently the Parkers married sisters because May says that her sister was Peter's mom while Ben was still Richard Parker's brother
