Mad Men

^^ Can I download any of these episodes? After moving away from Mississauga I've missed the last three episodes and haven't a clue what's going on. I might go into withdrawl. :(
Not that I'm aware of.:(

If you do find a source however. Please post it here.....for all us non-Tivo owners. It would be much appreciated.:bolian:

Well, I still have to pick up the first two season box sets on DVD. I suppose I just might have to wait until the third season set comes out next year.

I guess so.

I don't get why AMC doesn't post them online like everyone else does.

What I find frustrating is that AMC was available on my cable package in Mississauga which is just west of Toronto, Ontario (Canada) and it's also available in Ottawa, Ontario. But where I am now (Brockville, Ontario) which is only an hour south of Ottawa it's not available. Same for TCM. :wtf:

Arrrgh! :scream:

Top41, I was beginning to think I was the only Kartheiser fan around here. I've been consistently blown away by his work on this show. How he makes Pete seem human in spite of everything he does is a credit to him. I'm still dying remembering Pete hacking up a lung while they were filming the Lucky Strike commercial. That bit about him being on the Jeremy Piven diet of being an asshole made me laugh so hard my stomach hurt.

I've loved Kartheiser since Angel. He's a great actor, and very witty! Aside from what he did to the neighbors' nanny, I've always found him pretty sympathetic, even when he's being something of a weasel (I haven't seen season one yet though). I really like him and I've missed seeing him these past two weeks!

Don, Don, Don. The balance of power in your marriage has shifted. I was so touched by your tearful admissions to Betty that you couldn't lose what you had. Or I would have been if your mistress hadn't been sitting outside your house in your car. One thing's for sure. He won't be able to keep it in his pants for long and then Betty will have the proof of infidelity that she needs. He's Archibald Whitman's son. He can't help it. Don will screw up again with the teacher or with another piece of ass.

Yeah, I kept thinking about the teacher in the car during that scene! But I did feel bad for Don, and I thought it was so awesome storywise that he finally got called out on his lies!! I was afraid Betty would just push it aside and try to forget about it, the way the lawyer basically suggested she do. Love that we actually got the confrontation last night. Go Betty!

I don't think she'll leave him though--at least not yet. If she finds out about the teacher? Maaaaybe.

Give me a break, he's the son of a whore and had a father that abused him because he didn't want him. How you expecting this man to be moral upstanding being raised with that type of background. What you're completely missing is that Betty represents the mother figure he always wanted. Due to that, she can't be the women he truly desires sexually.

Pete was raised rich & privilaged and he's by far a worse person than Don has ever been. Besides, name one single person on the show that hasn't done something morally questionable. Hell, even Don's daughter stole money.

You're also wrong about Don being violent when his back is up against the wall. When confronted by Betty, he didn't attack her. He instead told the whole truth.

I do agree about Don--he's one messed up person and I think a lot of it has to do with his background. Which doesn't excuse him of course, but does kind of explain what he's looking for in his affairs.

I agree that he's not violent. I was actually surprised by how broken down he was when Betty confronted him. He stonewalled for a bit, but it was more out of desperation. I didn't sense any anger in him. He was just crushed that everything he'd worked so hard to hide was out in the open.

You can legally download it on iTunes! :)

Does AMC still have the episodes available OnDemand through digital cable? I been looking and can't seem to find it on mine.

Funny enough, I was visiting my parents and I watched this with them. They know of my interest (obsession) in the show but had not really seen it themselves. My Dad thought Betty looks like Grace Kelly. My Mom said why would he be fooling around with a wife like that. Later she said that Betty seemed cold and so unemotional. I think that sums up a lot!

Well, if you don't care much about legality, of course there are options for downloading. ;)

I'll never understansd why cable packages change so drastically from one area to another all in the same radius.
It's like they punish you for moving.

About 3 years ago I couldn't get "Boomerang", yet my gf at the time who ONLY LIVED ONE TOWN AWAY got it. Doesn't make sense, does it?

Top41, thanks for the iTunes info.

Don Draper, you're right. Betty does remind me of Grace Kelly.
I agree, she does come off as cold.

I am watching it again right now. Funny how Don is talking about the Dog food. About changing the name but what in the can remains the same. Never noticed the irony of that the first time!

With this series I definitely notice things on repeat viewings I never saw originally.

Yes, it's as clever as the ep. title and the last few words spoken: "The Gypsy & the Hobo."

BTW, I'm wondering if her Dog food company becomes "Mighty Dog".

Except that here on the board, we care about legality very much. Thanks. :)

You're welcome! :)

Agreed. I think it's the way she was raised, but she's very cold, even with her own children.

Oooh, good catch, and very good point. That ties in nicely with the ep, and Don's overall philosophy.

So he had a bad childhood. Boo hoo.

That's usually my stance too, for big crimes like murder, rape, assault, etc. But when it comes to having messed up relationships, I think I buy it as an excuse a bit more than in other situations.

I hear you, Top 41, it's just that he'll make nice with Betty and then he'll do it again and get caught cheating with someone else. Don never learns. Yes, he had a fucked up childhood in the extreme, but we expect people like alcoholics and whatnot to help themselves even if they're sick. Don could have a wonderful life if he'd just take it....but he won't.

I guess I'll finish out the season but after that, I'll probably bail on this show. Don's Big Secret was outed and it was a big fat nothing. This show has the dramatic oomph of a deflated balloon. All these people are annoying, creepy and/or stupid. Maybe we can turn this into alt-history sci fi and have the Russians nuke NYC and wipe them all out. Go get 'em Krushchev!:rommie:

It's just a TV show and this is how they writing Don to be and the reasons why in the period he lives in. Why do you keep acting like this is a biography?

Don't let the door hit you on the way out Temis!

Being an immaterial spirit, such things are beyond my notice! :p

A biography of whom? Effective characters are supposed to elicit strong reactions.

Don & the gang are an unholy experiment to see how unpalatable a TV show can make characters and still have an audience. I pride myself in having made it all the way thru the new BSG, but those folks had the excuse of robot genocide for their bad behavior. This show has defeated even me, and as a 14+ year viewer of the abominable Stargate series, and one of the four or five people still watching Heroes, it takes a lot to drive me away. :rommie:

This show is filled with real people. Meaning the characters reflect the shades of gray that actual human beings have. I recognize many aspects of these characters. From family members, to co-workers, and even myself.

Bad Behavior??? I find it laughable that anyone could compare this show and its characters to something as grandiose as BSG. Most of our lives are not filled this life and death decisions like on a soap like BSG. I think you need to go back to the kiddie table Temis. Maybe you will be given something easier to chew.
