Macross Frontier (tv). Coming in 2008!

It's been FIVE long years since the last Macross series. The new 26 episode series should be coming in early 2008. The official Macross website posted a two minute trailer of Macross Frontier a few days ago. I can not WAIT for this.

"On November 10, the official Japanese website for the Macross robot anime franchise has posted the promotional video for Macross F (Frontier), the sequel television series that is scheduled for 2008. Much of the footage had originally screened in an earlier cut shown during the Macross 25th Anniversary Live: Minmay meets Fire Bomber concert on August 18. The two-minute video lists the staff credits and shows the three main characters (budding singer Ranka Lee, pilot trainee Alto Saotome, and idol star Sheryl Nome) as well as the Macross Frontier fleet and VF-25 variable fighter. Macross co-creator Shoji Kawamori, Macross Plus composer Yoko Kanno, and Macross Zero's animation studio Satelight are working on the project."

:D

New Macross? TV Macross? Kawamori's on board? Kanno's on board?

I think I just creamed my pants.....

Is this going to be a rehash of that godawful Macross 7 or is it going to be along the lines of the original Macross?

I've never really followed Macross, other than the original which became pt. 1 of Robotech... In the Macross Series, are they all tied in to one another with the same characters?

I know I could google the answer, but I thought I'd ask the knowledgible folks here too...

No they are more generational with a series of unifying and common themes kinda like Robotech.

Honestly. The trailer gives off a feeling of the original Macross along with Macross Zero. I'll leave the rest to interpretation.

Looks like some of the rumors I had heard, about this being a continuation of Misa and Hikaru's story-- were wrong. Looks nice, wonder what the chances of getting it stateside are-- legitimately that is?

On on an aside, ~sigh~ I miss the old VF-1A Valks.

Pretty hard to continue Hikaru's story given the voice actor killed himself and the creator of the series has said that the characters' disappearance in space was pretty much it.

Neither which has stopped continuations in the past. I prefer the "unknown end" to the Miss and Hikaru, but people are still going to speculate and want to see what happened-- nature of the fanbeast.

Me too, but they are getting very old style in design by now. They'll always be one of my favorite mech designs though :)

I hope Harmony Gold doesn't block it's release in the U.S. like they did with Macross Zero.

Highly doubtful.

HG will do ANYTHING to keep NEW Macross OUT of the US.

It's quite sad.

That was a fantastic looking series...though I didn't quite understand the story with the aliens and weird girl with powers...

I hate Harmony Gold, not only do they have a strangle hold on the Robotech franchise they keep any new Macross shows from being released in the US.

If you are complaining about the fact that they prevented the release of Macross 7, let me just say that you didn't miss much. As for Macross Pluse and 2 both were released here dubbed.

Macross Zero is what I really want to own from the franchise though. Aside from the original Macross it's my favorite. I want it with a DTS track too. There seriously isn't much out there that comes close to looking this good in animation.
