Okay beware people the topic is now old enough that I'm going forth without any consideration for SPOILERS!!!!!
Finally finished the series and holy fuck! The last two episodes actually had several occasions where it in my opinion managed to transcend the original Macross series. I'm epsecially fond of the scene between Alto and Sheryl just before they start the big battle. And I was actually surprised (but pleasantly so) at how many people actually survived. Also loved loved loved the several bits of fanservice, like te return of the Macross attack! (
) and Klan piloting Michel's mech, sniping, and passing on the gun to Alto, not to mention the Macross trademarked two mechs fighting back to back moments. Also love the one two sucker punch attack to galaxy by first the Quarter and then Battle Frontier. Just truly epic space battles that I think will take a while before they are surpassed.
As for the more emotional side of things I kinda regained a bit of sympathy for Ranka. But Sheryl is just better in every way and was kinda sad that he didn't actually choose anyone of them. Oh well, here's hoping for the movie...
In conclusion I think it was a fantastic series, started of kinda slow, but really picked up the pace. Now my only problem is I'm addicted to the soundtracks and I no more episodes to watch...oh well, guess I can always finish Mushi-shi.
Oh and I also have a nice shiny avatar to celebrate the occasion.
