OMG BOMBER!!!!! :techman:

lol loved that little slip in of M7. Anyway I really like the animation on the show, Yoko Kanno is doing a great job on the music in the show and the characters seem interesting.

Ranka is part Meltran(Female Zentraedi) so there's that angle. I'm wondering what the SMS really is and what their connection if any to the military is since they seem to be better equipped and knows who these aliens are.

The Sheryl/Ranka/Alto triangle looks to be taking hold and next episode looks to be a variation on the Minmay/Hikaru trapped in Macross, but with the 3 of them trapped if the previews are any indication.

Ozma must have had Classic FM on. All the best hits from the 30s, 40s, and today!

It's more than just a nod to Macross 7... That show was infamous for not HAVING any background music, and any time (besides the credits) that music was heard, it was IN CONTEXT to the show: someone was singing, the radio was on, etc. Ozma's little Bomber incident was an example.

Anyway, all the clues we've seen so far suggest the strongest ties within the Macross universe to the Macross Zero OVAs. Not that I needed an excuse to watch that show again. The mecha designs in Frontier are outstanding, and the action some of the best seen on a TV anime budget. Bring it on!

Just watched Menclave's take on ep 1 - and I like it!

I really want to see a VF-25 done up in Jetfire colours and sporting a certain red faction logo, though...

...or better yet, to have the sky-firing scientist make an appearance!

(I know, it will never happem but still...)

THIS is my TIME to be a STAAAAAAARRRRRR!!!!!

[duck]

The VF-25 is easily becoming the most ass-kicking mecha design of the year. It's already far more memorable than anything Gundam 00 threw at us, and still better than the strange designs of Code Geass R2...

So far I am enjoying this one a good bit as well. Very formulaic in terms of Macross history- all the elements are there and the mecha are great.

I did enjoy Macross Zero a good bit until they went spiritually bonkers in the last couple eps, but this stuff is better. I don't know what it is with the Japanese, though, that they like to make the lead male characters so gender-ambiguous so often. Alto 'the princess' I could have done without, and anyone who ever watched Yukikaze knows exactly the sort of crap I'm talking about.

It's doing very good with the homages but it also needs to start branching out on its own. That being said I've been impressed with the first four episodes.

Excellent mecha combat + great soundtrack + love triangles galore = one happy Macross fan
