MACO fleet?

No, but if ground combat is what the MACOs do, then it only makes sense. Obviously they're not talking about starship tech if the MACOs don't have their own ships.

If, by ground combat you mean anything not ship to ship combat. I can easily see using MACOs for boarding ships or space stations. Anything that marines would do.

Oh, absolutely. I was thinking that, but not coming up with a convenient term that would encompass those sorts of operations.

You know that weird looking ship from DS9's "A Time to Stand", the one that looks like an Excelsior and a Miranda had a baby? The USS Curry, it was called.

I've always thought the Curry could be a Starfleet Marine (yes, they do exist, deal with it  ) troop transport. That forward-slung secondary hull may be a troop barracks that can be detached and left behind, as a sort of home base for a regiment of marines after they are deployed to wherever they need to go...

While I like to think of the Curry as a hospital ship, I have to agree it would make a great troop transport, too.

Of course, my initial idea for a design like this was a through-deck carrier.

Oh, keep you're shirts on everyone. "Navy" just means "fleet" and anyone who doesn't think Starfleet isn't a fleet isn't paying attention to the name. Or are we now going to make the bold claim that Starfleet isn't a fleet?

It's a ParaNavy, Duhh!

The MACO are the space navy? They gonna need better ships once Starfleet finishes testin' them warp drives.
