I personally thought it was sad. At least Connor Trinneer can get on '24', even if it was only one episode.
The Sprint commercial was shown before Star Trek at the theater I went to.
I don't anything there's anything wrong with doing commercials. It's funny and serves a Great Purpose ... getting morons to turn off their cells at the movies.
And it's not as if that commercial is his only job since ENT. Dom has also gotten roles in films and TV shows like "Las Vegas."
George Clooney hasn't been on 24 either. Maybe we should worry about his career.
I think showing they they can act beyond science fiction is a good thing. And the fact we're all talking about him and his work obviously means we noticed. I'm sure others will see the same.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with everyone. Like all actors, I'm sure they'll have their ups and downs. For example, Scott Bakula is going to be a new movie with Matt Damon where he's playing a lead role. Next year, he may be staying at home. I think that's kind of the life of the actor.

Nah. Acting is by nature an inconsistent career with a nonlinear trajectory. You can never count on "working your way up," because your achievements in one project usually have no impact on your next unless you're some huge name.
It's a perfectly respectable career in the acting bizz to be doing commercials. Getting on a TV series, even a short-lived one, is a HUGE thing that ensures a lot of financial security if you use your money wisely. It may be regrettable that he hasn't been able to parlay that into going further later on, but it's neither uncommon nor disrespectable nor a sign of bad luck. Plenty of actors have financed their theatre careers through appearances in commercials, plenty of actors have landed short-lived series gigs before going back to commercials. It's just the nature of the business.
at first, i thought it was pretty sad, then in thinking, a lot of movie actors do it (clooney, and others) or tv actor (matthew fox, patrick dempsey and others). so why not him. and it is for a good cause. that don't necesserly mean that he needs money or his carreer is dead.
And Shatner has been doing a commercial airing in the Chicago area for a personal injury lawyer despite getting plenty of airtime with Boston Legal.
Personally, Dominic's ad was a lot more entertaining.

Indeed. Hollywood has evolved a little bit in that regard. It's the same deal with "television actors" versus "film actors." In the past, TV actors were looked down upon by "film actors," and they considered TV to be below them (case in point--Jeffrey Hunter, or I guess his wife). Nowadays, that stigma doesn't exist, or at least it isn't nearly as bad.
