Mr. Commodore64 and I were waiting to see X-Men Origins (the new Wolverine movie) when we saw a commercial with Dominik Keating representing a chimp for a Sprint commercial (which also indicated people should turn off their cell phones). Anyone else see this? It was nice seeing Lt. Reed again and on the big screen!
Saw that at "Wolverine," too,and turned to hubby. "It's Dominic!" "Dom's doing comericals?" he said. "That's kinda sad." It WAS a clever ad, though. However, my favorite one is still "Happy The Hedge Hog."
That ad was a total scream. Keating was grand in it. And look at the exposure he must be getting in theaters across the country.
I don't know. I don't think Keating doing a commercial is sad at all. He's shown all over theaters everywhere and has broken out of science fiction. (I think the Enterprise cast, like all the other Star Treks, could easily be saddled with only lesser known science fiction shows.) I think it was probably a wise decision by him to take it! It proves, for example, he can do comedy.
Yeah but aren't commercials usually at the start of your career... After all of his time doing Enterprise and various TV and Film parts, I think its a bit sad that he's had to resort back to doing these.
Between you and me, I'm glad Dominic's audition to play Kirk's uncle fell through. That ad looked much more fun. Reed was a decent part, I hope he gets to reprise someday.
Watching that advert reminds me... I still haven't managed to get a 'Faith of the Heart' ringtone for this Friday. mwahahaha
Not necessarily. Patrick Stewart, for example, did Pontiac Grand Am commercials after his acclaim with Star Trek. John Lithgow did car commercials after Third Rock from the Sun. Again, I think he's showing he has some dimension: I'm more than just a sci-fi actor. Besides the exposure I betcha for this is pretty good.
