Spoilers Lower Decks General Discussion Thread

Yeah, there’s tons of cool references in there, just like with the show itself. Also just noticed that it’s Vasquez Rocks in the background.

I think it’s almost there, from a graphic design standpoint. The title is IMHO not readable enough in that small size and with that planet behind it and the whole things needs more contrast between background and foreground to make it pop. Something like so and it’s perfect … :bolian:

Thank you! In any case, I think it’s super cool that they commissioned a new piece of art for the book cover and didn’t just use an existing one. Can only mean good things for the rest of the book, I feel like.

Ooh, yes, that does look better, @Michael!
(While we're suggesting changes we'd like to make, instead of the senior staff & background going from outlines to colour from the centre out, I'd reverse it so Carol, Jack and T'Ana are in colour with the others fading to outlines then animatics/pencil sketches etc.)

I'm really looking forward to this book - "only" five & a half

The finale got a Hugo!
Nice! Apparently both “Fissure Quest” and “The New Next Generation” were nominated in the category “Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form”. Here’s Mike McMahan’s acceptance speech for the award for “The New Next Generation”.

And another win for Lower Decks: The wonderful “Warp Your Own Way” comic by Ryan North and Chris Fenoglio won for “Best Graphic Story or Comic”.

I never really come to this part of the boards, but I am a huge Lower Decks fan, and I've just finished Season 3 in my second time through, and it's just as good the second time around as it was the first. I'm really looking forward to the Art of Book, and I'm thrilled to see both the Warp Your Own Way comic and the episode get Hugos.

I saw a post from someone somewhere on the board saying they thought the LDS art book's publishing date had been moved back again (I can't find the post now). I can confirm that, at least for UK residents, the date has moved to 3rd March because I've just received an email from the place I ordered it from saying as much :sigh:

Oh, you are right, I hadn’t noticed that. Although this time it only got pushed for another month. In July they said it would be coming February 4th. I usually don’t pre-order books, so I have no idea if this is an outlier, but I guess it’s pretty normal for a book release date to be switched around like that. The fact that it now has a (preliminary) cover gives me some confidence that it will definitely come out.

I'm getting excited. My complete series set will arrive Monday or Tuesday at the latest, Not bad considering it was ordered only 5 days ago and is shipping from California
