Spoilers Lower Decks General Discussion Thread

^ True. I'd love for LDS to continue for many years to come, but I'd like to see some progression for our favourite characters which would mean they're no longer ensigns. Well, not all of them anyway. I suspect Mariner's rap sheet is enough to keep her at ensign rank for a while (and that's where she seems happiest at the mo, too). Rutherford doesn't seem concerned with promotion either, so I think he could be an ensign for a while longer.
It'd be great if Tendi and Boimler get to Lt.j.g. and have to deal with having more responsibility, but also fitting in to their new positions. They'd get their own quarters, and could share them with Mariner and Rutherford - the party quarters they missed out on in "Room for Growth"! After all her work & dedication leading to Project Fly By, Freeman could get that Fleet Captain position and head up Cali-class operations in the sector/area (and so would still feature heavily), and Ransom could be captain of the Cerritos.

Yeah I don't see Mariner getting promoted any time soon either. her parents being starfleet are whats keeping her from being thrown out. Nepotism for ya....

I'll say this, I'm looking forward to the Lower Decks/Strange New Worlds crossover episode because I would love to see if the difference in portrayal of the LD characters In SNW are alot more serious in tone then their goofy ass counterparts in Animated world or if they will stick to what's been shown on screen.

~ Oh, me too! Although, I hope Mariner and Boimler (I've read that they're the only ones who will be live action?) aren't too much different. After all, the SNW cast seem to be a lot more fun and laid back than many other crews, so hopefully the Lower Deckers will fit right in without too much tweaking :D

Tawny Newsome has said that Mariners we be less over the top in the live action sequences.

~ Ah, yes, I remember that quoted from an interview or something, now. Still, "less over the top" is much better than "toned right down" - it still allows for some exuberance :D

They will be different.
~ "That much is certain." :vulcan: :rommie: I can't wait to see it and find out how different!

Well that sucks balls.

Edit: To be fair, Amazon does show that the BRD will also be available on April 25th (Tuesday). Available for pre-order now at $24.99 USD. Maybe this is the "on demand" bit?
There are different types of MOD. Sometimes Amazon or the vender the studios use would burn a DVD-R or BD-R. Other times Allied Vaughn (who is handling the US release for season 3) will author the BD, and have it manufactured -- in smaller batches -- at the same Technicolor plant in Mexico that all the studios use (when they have the discs produced in North America that is). MOD don't always arrive at the merchant in time for the release date.

For LOWER DECKS season 3, the discs will either be authored by Paramount (and have the same type of menus as the earlier seasons -- if they're intending to release in Europe or Australia etc) or Allied Vaughn (and have very basic menus). Most likely they'll be pressed like normal Blu-rays, but there's a small chance they could be burned -- Paramount has done this with EVIL and I believe 90210(?).

Today I went ahead and pre-ordered season 3. The more people that buy it when it first comes out, the greater the chance we get season 4 on BD as well.

Awesome for Tawny, who seems such a fun and enthusiastic bundle of joy (and a huge Star Trek fan herself).
Really hope this doesn't hinder any LowerDecks, Pod Directve Podcast and potential other Start Trek-things for her.

Personally still I got absolutely zero interest in anything DISCO related and the press release said something about "after more than 100 years" and there was this whole Tilly/student/school thing - so unfortunately things point towards Disco/Burn.

I wouldn't worry. Seth MacFarlane was able to write, produce, direct and star in The Orville without it cutting into his job voicing at least four main characters on Family Guy (one of which is the show's lead). I'm sure Newsome can handle writing for Starfleet Academy without it interfering with Lower Decks or her other stuff.
