I try to be careful when it comes to doling out criticism. My father is a fault-finder. With everything. And I can't stand it. So that's why I'm not. But also, if I'm critical of everything all the time, then when I really do mean it, it's going to fall on deaf ears. It would be like, "Oh, that's Garth off on his rocker again!" It would be like the boy who cried "Wolf!" No. If I'm critical of something, I want it to stand out. I want it to carry more weight so it'll have more bite. "He's not normally openly criticizing this! What was wrong with it?" If you've painted yourself as someone who's going to hate it no matter what, people will start to tune it out as white noise.
