Spoilers Lower Decks General Discussion Thread

After seeing the new trailer, I'm still looking forward to the show, but I'll be honest and say I am slightly worried. Hopefully most of the humor is better than that.

well this is what i expected dumb rick and morty shit oh well i'll still watch it if only for the probably small amount of caitian doctor stuff in it here's hoping the upcoming nickelodeon thing won't be as rick and mortyish as this

I'm not sure why you say that. Everything, including the trailer, implies that T'Ana's going to be Tendi's direct boss. She's not going to be a focal point anytime soon, but I'd be surprised if she didn't appear in every episode.

I think it looks awesome. Something completely different from anything we've seen in Trek before. I'm looking forward to it.

I wonder when we'll get some episode titles?

Maybe I'm just not the target audience, but this looks woefully unfunny. I just don't get what the point of it all is.

The animation quality looks okay, although I'm not at all a fan of the character design style.

Just looks like a bunch of broad humor and chaos taking any level of seriousness out of what's left of the franchise. I mean this just looks like nonsense.

A comedy show that isn't serious? :vulcan:

Not totally up my alley but I feel like this is getting mad at an apple tree for making having steak. Also, not sure how the rest of the franchise isn't serious.

There's comedy, not everything bein serious, then stuff like the catching the guy naked bit, playing with shields in the shuttle, it just all felt like a farce. If thus supposed to be "in canon" or whatever why does it all feel out if place and disconnected from this being/feeling real?

There's middle ground, and this one want went to the far end of the spectrum of goofy, chaotic, farcical humor that just looks and feels out of place to everything else in the franchise. So, I guess, it fits right in with everything Trek has done the last 10 years or so.

I’m kind of sick of Trek sticking to the middle ground. There’s a good chunk of Berman-era Trek that’s so uniform that it becomes lifeless. I enjoy it all, but the older I get, the more appreciative I become of projects like this that swing for the fences. Maybe I’m just not that precious over Star Trek.

If I don’t like this, no big deal. At least they tried. I’ll take that over another TNG 2.0 clone like Voyager and Enterprise.

TAS was great. Managed to do the cartoon aspect without turning the entire premise of the show it was based on into a farce while having the comedic and other elements a cartoon brings.

What else has Trek done as a farce? :vulcan:

There doesn't need to be a middle ground when you can create a variety of Trek shows for many different types of fans. Why does it have to be canon, or feel real? Why can't it just be fun?
