Spoilers Lower Decks General Discussion Thread

Jessie Gender is hosting a charity livestream on YouTube tonight, featuring Crystal Kan, Jean Kang and Lauren Andrews — all current or former storyboard artist for Lower Decks. They are doing live drawings based on prompts by the audience. Donations are apparently going to the entertainment community fund supporting people affected by the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.

The event just started a few minutes ago …

Sounds like it's been a good season.

Boggles the mind that the cancelled Prodigy will be available on Netflix, yet there's no legit method of watching S4 of LD in several regions.

So If they stick with 26 episodes = 1 year, than the first episode set in 2382 should be 5x02

Edit: 6x02 not 5x02. Don't do math past your bed time.

I decided to start a rewatch of Lower Decks and look for the various clues of Mariner's life in Starfleet considering what we know now. Between which episodes of Lower Decks did the Crossover take place with SNW? I wanted to include that episode in this rewatch.

Before "Twovix". Mariner mentions "that Pike thing we aren't supposed to talk about" in the episode.

A poster on the main BBS for Blu-ray discs has found an Amazon listing for season 4. Release date is supposedly Dec 19. They're speculating it might be a wide release, and not MOD like season 3. Great news if true. I haven't even seen the season yet, would be easy to just order it on disc...

If this is true, that means the Blu-Ray release will be concurrent with the release of the U.S.S. Cerritos Crew Handbook

Several other websites are also listing season 4 as coming to Blu-ray. It's UPC is 191329260227, which is similar to other Paramount releases, but not MOD ones. This may bode well for an international release.

The early episodes of this series is really putting Mariner in a different light. I watched the episode Moist Vessel today and her reaction to when Carol was promoting her really hit a lot differently than originally. It wasn't a reaction of a jerk. It was a reaction of someone who almost seemed traumatized by it. I wonder if she will ever tell Freeman why she is the way she is. I know they have a butting head relationship, but I hope in season 5 she finally has that heart to heart.

As for the scene in Envoys where Boimler is saying that he and Mariner were the same age, I took it as he assumed they were the same age. They were also in a pretty sticky situation.

Speaking of uncertain ages, Rutherford was a first year cadet when Starfleet was using the second TNG uniform, as that is what Les Buenamigo was wearing in his supressed memory.

IIRC, they reference those events as being "a decade ago" which could be true, if you fudge it up a bit. I think season 3 was supposed to be 2381. The latest Rutherford's memory could be is 2370, TNG's seventh season/DS9's second as that was the last year the TNG style badges were used (which we see being used in the memory). Eleven years ago could easily be sloppily referenced as "a decade ago" so if Rutherford was 18 in 2370, he'd be 29 currently. Which does seem a reasonably age for him to be.
