Spoilers Lovecraft Country

I finally watched the season finale this morning and was pretty happy with how it all came together.
It was pretty surprising they actually left Atticus dead at the end, I kept expecting them to resurrect him.
It was kind of cool seeing all of the characters all come together.
Had we seen Christina and Diana interact before this? The way Christina talked to her it seemed like they were pretty familiar with each other, but I don't remember them having any scenes together. Diana's robot arm was pretty cool.

Good news. It doesn't look like Matt Ruff will be involved but I haven't even read the book yet. I would like to see the show not try to resurrect Atticus.

I'd be happy either way, I liked Johanthan Majors as Atticus, but the rest of the cast is strong enough to carry the show without him. Depending on when this is filmed, they might have limited access him anyway, since he's already signed on to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Disappointing, but better not try and continue something if it is not going to match up to the material from the book. I have also been hearing about complaints over the number of shows and movies depicting of torture of black people so it was probably a better move to leave on a high note anyway.

I've been reading a little on the differences between the book and the show (really should just read it) and it seems that the show amped up some of that and brought in other elements (for example,
the indigenous woman and Ji-ya as well as Tic/Letitia
are only in the show) which might explain why it was sometimes felt uneven or disjointed. Still, there were some amazing moments as well. The show did cover the breadth of the book for the most part so a second season isn't needed for closure necessarily.

My cousin read the book (I trust his opinions on these things). He said he enjoyed it but there was nothing in it that the series didn't do as well or better.

I saw on Twitter some of the plans showrunner Misha Green had for a season 2 and that looked like it had potential, though I also think the idea could be made into an original project. Hopefully Green's second season idea will get made, as a movie, television series, or even a comic book.

As for Lovecraft Country ending I'm okay with it. I felt the story was told. Certainly there's still a strong cast of characters left without Atticus and more stories could be told, but I'm okay with the idea of not having everything be dragged out just for the sake of it. I would rather see another season of Watchmen, mostly because I would like to see more of Agent Blake and learn what happened to Nite-Owl and see more of those renegade heroes. I would be fine with a novel or comic book telling that story as well.

^ I'm torn on Watchmen. I adored it so much that part of me wants more, but part of me fears a 2nd season could be a huge disappointment.

I enjoyed parts of Lovecraft Country, but tonally it was all over the place and I struggled to connect with some of the characters, especially Atticus. I did love Ruby's story though and Wunmi Mosaku was superb (as she seems to be in everything I see her in). My favourite episode was the one set in Korea, which is obviously also the episode most removed from the show as a whole.

Here are links to the tweets that Misha Green posted with stuff from their Season 2 bible.
The first is a map showing that the US has now been split into the Tribal Nations of the West, The New Negro Republic, The Whitelands, and the Jefferson Commonwealth.
The second is a description of The Whitelands, which is where zombies created by The Origin spell has been "corralled".
So it sounds like Season 2 would have been pretty different from the first.
The scripts for episodes 1-10 are now available on mishawrites.com.
