Spoilers Lovecraft Country

Meet Me in Daigu reminded me in some ways of the Imprint episode of Masters of Horror by Takashi Miike. For having to carry the episode out of nowhere, Jamie Chung really delivered, great performance. I have such a huge backlog of shows I can't believe I'm thinking I need to rewatch this series.

That episode was AMAZING. A demon, a Korean family, Judy Garland musicals, Atticus' fate, the Korean war, fearing those who are "different" on pretty much every level..... that was brilliant.

This episode blew me over. It was an emotional ride. This is the first time since maybe season 5 of Game of Thrones that I've been waiting every week to catch the next episode. Mind, The Boys isn't pulling any punches either--but this show is just at another level for me.

Damn, just how much talent does this show have squirreled away? Kudos to casting. Though we all knew Sue from Veep could go medieval on your ass.

It's interesting all the different angles this show takes in exploring the effects of racism, oppression and violence within its supernatural framework. This one went straight up cosmic and actually reminded me of Steven Universe a bit if any have watched that.

I didn't know what to make of that motorcycle scene but apparently that was a nod to Bessie Stringfield. https://allthatsinteresting.com/bessie-stringfield

I think the drift started with the "Indiana Jones/National Treasure" episode. I think they have been consistent with the themes of the show but the stories have definitely gotten more anthology-like (anthological?) going in surprising directions to that of the more gothic sort of horror established initially.

Oh my GOD, those dancing figures were Creepy. As. Fuck.

And that ending.....what the fuck?

Could Tic have gotten that novel in an alternate universe?

Will Hippolyta come back to save Dee? That poor kid has lost her parents and her best friend. Give the girl a break!

...and Diana likes to make comic books.
Good catch. The dancing girls were beyond creepy. When this season is over I am going to have to borrow the book from the library. I am now beginning to think that this series is going to go beyond a single season. Have we heard any word on future plans?

No word yet. I hope they do go longer because I'm enjoying it so much; however, it wouldn't surprise me if it ended where the source material ends.

Finally watched the last few episodes. I don't think the whole thing made much sense but it was a wild ride and I enjoyed it a lot..

Yes, it sure was. That was the creepiest part of the season.

The last episode was advertised as season finale, so there could be more seasons. I am not sure the remaining characters are strong enough for an ongoing series. Maybe this will be an anthology series with a different story line each season.

Atticus will be back if there is a second season, I imagine. It was interesting how all the elements came together at the end but I am left with a lot of questions. I don't think the season as a whole was as powerful as the first few episodes but I very much enjoyed it.
