Has there ever been a truly interesting Jin/Sun storyline? I don't think so. Still, it was cool to see Mikhail back, and Widmore and Locke meeting face to face. And finally, finally, Desmond returns.

Above average.

Mainly because of Desmond at the end...thought it was Daniel Faraday at first before I saw his face.

I had just started watching it (forgot about it till I noticed the red light on the DVR ..., then I had to wait an hour to watch it) when it occurred to me ... When Sun was off the island, she confronted her father, saying he was as responsible to what happened to Jin as Whidmore (or however that went down).

Anyway, I was thinking that had to do with the island, but now, I'm wondering why would Mr. Paik bother killing off Jin after he was already married to Sun?

Or ..., did Paik really have something else to do with the island and Whidmore ...?

I voted average, but I consider an average Lost episode to be very good TV. I'm pretty much with Geck here on the merits.

I'm kind of shocked that they let Mies have that line about Sun's injury. I guess it really is the last season if they can let a character start doubting the plausibility of the plot twists.

I voted average. A few good things, some filler. I've stopped caring about Jin & Sun, sadly. More interested in Des & Penny. Flocke was pretty dull this week, excepting when he tells Claire she has the murder green light, once they are off the island. Jack still writing checks he can't cash. What are you, like the only guy who isn't planning to blow up the plane?

It's funny how we went a couple seasons wondering who was the badder bad guy, Linus or Widmore, & it turns out, neither of them really, just confused, lost, or beaten, but not entirely bad, on either account. I think that is the parable for the whole show. Every thing gets clumped as bad or good, black or white, & in the end we will see them all, including MIB & Jacob, as being far too complex to be just bad or good

She blamed two people for Jin's death: Ben and her father. She blamed her father because he was responsible for them being on the plane in the first place, and generally made their lives and marriage miserable. As revenge, she took her father's company away.

I liked this episode, but then, I like Sun and Jin. It's also been a very long time since they've been characters in their own right, as has been pointed out above. Sun's frustration and Jin looking at pictures of Ji Yeon brought them back to the emotional level they attained in D.O.C. and Ji Yeon. They're not much about the mythology, but they're two of the most grounded characters in the show, balancing character development and romance nicely. I've missed the heart they bring to Lost.

So call it filler if you like, but I think this was a very important episode in setting up the emotional punches that are sure to come. The only thing I felt was lacking was some sort of conflict within Sun about leaving her kid behind to go after Jin, especially in light of her line to Claire in the second season: "A mother should not leave her child behind." Ever since Sun came back to the Island, I always thought this line would come back to haunt her emotionally, but so far, nothing.

Oh, and did anyone else notice the profession of Widmore's right hand lady? Geo-thermal scientist. Now connect that to the volcano that Ben and his classmates were learning about at Dharma School in The Man Behind the Curtain and the producers promising in the commentary for that episode that the volcano would be important at some point. Me thinks payoff is coming soon on that third season throwaway line.

Now this was a nothing episode, in a series of good episodes this season, this one kinda dropped the ball. It would have been saved if Jin and Sun actually finally caught up with each other, but they didn't, so, meh. The ending was kind of a shocker, but that's about it. I feel like I wasted an hour, except for the last 10 seconds. They could have just had a 10 second episode tonight.

I liked the part with the buttons. :alienblush:
 You could almost call it more interesting than all the season 2 scenes ABOUT a button. ;)

This is another Above Average for me. So far, only "LA X" and "Ab Aeterno" have been Excellents, but I really think every single other installment has been above average...this has been a great season so far. I'm SO happy Des is back, he's my favorite character and has been absent way too long. He's somehow the key to this whole shebang, I can feel it. Or something. As always, here's to next week! :techman:

I voted Above Average. I liked the sideways story, but up until the end there were only a couple of minor new bits of information. I usually don't care about that kind of stuff, but as we get closer to the end it gets more and more frustrating when we don't get any major info. That's not to say that the island was bad, because it really wasn't at all, it's just that other than one or two scenes it really didn't seem to have a huge impact on the overall story arc.

Well Jin takes Sun to the hospital and Jack will be the doctor who saves her. Maybe Locke will also be there for a consult. :)

I sure hope these alternate reality stories lead somewhere.

I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. I normally find Sun and Jin really boring but I was engaged in this episode. I found that there were a lot of small scenes that I enjoyed the most:

-Locke's talk with Claire.
-Ben's seemingly sincere concern for Sun.
-Jack and Sun's talk at the end.
-Miles' comment about Hurley only being able to track bacon.
-Keamy was, of course, a lot of fun.

Edit: Oh, and I loved Widmore's lines about what he knows about MiB. Very creepy. Especially the "strange sounds in the jungle" part. Great scene.

Yeah, I had the same thought about Jack as Jin carried Sun off. As for the sideways stories, the producers keep promising that they are important and necessary, so hopefully there will be more to them than just showing what could have been.

At this point I'm just accepting these episodes for what they are and intended to be like we've seen towards the end of past seasons and that there just setup episodes for something major later on.

I wonder how Desmond fits into all this and what him being there could possibly do to change things or stop Locke

I also wonder if we'll ever see the MiB actually materialize into the black smoke on screen as opposed to offscreen, surely they've set aside some room in the budget for that effect. somewhere.

Lastly if Sun and Jin aren't married in this timeline, Jacob was never there to touch them and if let's say if this is a world where he doesn't exist at all in this then are things going awry because of that fact? That Keamy was right. That sometimes people aren't met to be together?

Oh, also, I just wanted to say, Yunjin Kim has a nice set of breasts, they purposeful had a couple of nice closeups of her bosom while she was unbuttoning her clothes.

I wonder why they have Desmond so drugged up. It can't simply be to transport him; a set of handcuffs and a gag would do the trick for that.

Average. Watchable, but kind of dull. Entertaining filler.

The Flash-Sideways really need some sort of reveal, and FAST, otherwise it's getting a little old.

The reason you know this was a filler is that you could have skipped the whole island plot and just had Locke send Sayid to find out what the package was from the start of the episode and not have missed anything.

Almost like they blew their wad on Ab Aeterno and uhhh, need a little time to get it up again.

I wonder when people will realize that since the MIB's plan is to fly the plane off of the Island and escape, and that Frank Lapidus is the only one who can fly the plane, that Frank is actually one of the most important people now on the island.

If he doesn't/can't help the MIB then the MIB can't escape. Someone better break both his arms right away so he can't pilot the plane out of there. And the MIB is screwed.

Or, I wonder why Widmore just doesn;t send someone to kill Frank? Widmore is evil and driven enough to see that killing one man to save the world is no question at all. Kill Frank and Smokie is screwed.

Heck, Frank seems like such a nice guy, I'd bet he'd sacrifice himself to save everyone else anyways.

I've stopped thinking of Widmore as evil. I think he's ruthless, perhaps the most ruthless of them all. Ruthlessness to the cause of right or justice, can be just as brutal as to the cause of wrong or malice, & as it appears, he is in league with Jacob's fold
