Looking for a partner to write a fanfiction

I´m looking for a partner to write a fanfiction.

The idea is to take one of the movies of the TOS Crew and rewite it with the TNG crew. This would also involve inventing whole new plot points and b-plots and changeing "movie only characters and relations" if nessecary.

You should really have time for the project and be okay with a detailed (and possibly long) planning phase.

Interested? Please post in this thread.

I would be intrested. I am better at story than dialogue and I am just now starting to write so I am kind of rusty.

I even have a few idea's. Star Trek 6 could be like a alternate universe story were praxis never blew and peace never happened in this universe. Well Praxis does blow up finally in the 24th century and it's up to Captain Picard who was set to retire to bring peace betweeen the Federation and Klingon Empire. Worf is basically Gorkon in this version and let's see inside a Federation prision instead of a Klingon one.

Hmm...interesting. My first idea was to do a TNG The Warth Of Kahn...or a TNG TMP with vger but much more action (many probes all over the ship...doing stuff..as it was initially planned for the movie)...instead of Spock mindmelting with vgers probe Data could try to interface. Have Troi be kidnapped by vger instead of Ilia.

I think a brain stroming before making any decisions on what to base the story would be nessecary....really have good look at all options.

This project is probably gonna be epic...so I´m thinking one additonal person, preferably a good writer with experience...couldn´t hurt....so anybody interested...please post.

Hmmm, I was just wondering who would actually make a good villain for a ST:II equivalent of Khan, and I had a random thought. How about the Moriarty hologram? :p He's a genius, got a good motivation for revenge against Picard, and intimately familiar with technology. And he has the advantage of having appeared in more than one episode too :)

I was thinking of really putting them against Kahn...in a kind of "Myriad Universes" approach....on the assumption of:

1. The NCC 1701 never discovered the Botany Bay.....the Enterprise D did...basically the episode with Kahn happend to Picard and Co...with the same outcome as the original

2. Years later...the Genesis Project is developed...etc...some old flame of Picard leading the project with a son he doesn´t know of...etc
Picard and Co return to Ceti Alpha 5....discover Kahn....etc.

Hi guys!

I might be interested in helping out, these seem like pretty good ideas. When would you be thinking of doing this? I'm going to be pretty busy in November, doing nanowrimo, so probably wouldn't be able to be hugely present...?

If you want an idea of what I write, you can check out some of my writing on the Star Trek: Restoration thread.

Look forward to hearing from you.

The question we need to ask is how do we make Khan have a personal connection to Picard like he had for Kirk, wanting revenge and all that. Perhaps Khan see Picard as a example of everything wrong with humanity. This could be all about Khan taking a look at Roddenberrry's vision of the future and passing judgment on it. Picard would sort of represent everything Khan dislikes about what humanity has achieved and perhaps he is even bitter that humans have become this huge power without him or his vision being what propellled humanity out in space and creating something like the Federation.

Here is my idea combined with CpatainSarine's idea on keeeping things similiar to the movie.

The Botanity bay is encountered by the Stargazer, 20 something years ago. Picard sends Khan to a rehibillition facuility. Khan spends 20 with Federation docotrs and thearpist trying to help him fit into modern society. Khan eventually escapes and wants revenge on Picard for seeing him and after 20 years of touchy feely sentiments from his prision he wants to see the Federation destoryed. He escapes on Starfleet ship captained by Thomas Riker(who doesn't join the maquis) in this reality.

Eventually he finds out about the Genesis prjoect that is being developed in one of the science labs aboard the Enterprise. He attacks the Enterprise and steals the device and kidnaps Picard,Data and the science-romantic intrest of Picard's and locks them away in a cavern.

Picard does the same trick that Kirk did and soon he purses Khan and his ship into the Nebula and we get the type of space battle we see in the movie. Data saves the ship and dies in the end. You could even have Picard dealing with old age issue's and say this is his final misssion before turning the ship over to Riker and Picard's feeling lost as to what he will do with the rest of his life.

If I make typo'cs it might be because I can't see well right now. I need reading glasses in a big way.

I like your idea Jayson.
But why not actually go full circle and do the whole trilogy? TWOK. TFS, TVH?
Although right now I´m not sure how to bring Data back ala "The Search for Data"...that needs creativity ;-)

Doing the full trilogy would be fun. Bringing Data back to life is a issue but also finding a death scene that equals Spock's is hard as well. What would kill a android?

A massive EMP burst that wipes him clean? Some kind of radiation that degrades his positronic net?

Data could be killed the same way as Spock. Data has organic components vital to his function...if those are irradiated enough I bet he would die.

And bringing him back...couldn´t we somehow involve the Genesis Effect in this? The Genesis Effect "restructures" life if it is already there...wouldn´t that include Data too? Maybe he finally gets what he wanted and comes back as a human? But then he could have psychological problem..because now of course he would miss his android capabilities.

The same things that kill a human could kill Data. A fall from a high-enough point, a powerful electrical discharge sufficient to fry his neural net, a phaser set to disintegrate… you get the idea.

Perhaps his 'growing pains' in your TSFS equivalent could be his mind trying to understand and comprehend the singals, emotions, sensations that a normal human experiences just by being alive. Essentially take his actions and reactions with the small amount of work the Borg did to make him more human and times that by a factor of silly.

Great idea! I like that! He could be logical in the beginning like Spock, but then emotions start to painfully burst through...

I love the idea of bringing Data back as human. How would the Genesis Effect work on him though in this way. He has organic parts to him but his brain is all machine. The Data that comes back wouldn't have memories or anything since his memories are basically computer storage devices. I think we would be dealing with a completely new character here that looks like Data but isn't Data.

Granted we could go with the realigious idea that his soul would be intact. That would be a intresting angle to explore. What if a religion formed around the Genesis Device and Data. They would want to get hold of the device and Data to bascially create their own eve from scratch.

Jason

I think his soul would just transfer to the new human body. That would beautifully close the circle on "Measure of a Man" where one of the questions asked was if Data has a soul.

I agree. So far in Trek the closest thing we have seen as far as a afterlife or soul being a real thing is the Katra. This would be a intresting place to go. To find out Data also has a Katra or you can go down the angle of genetic memory for a scientific explanation as to how he regained his memories.
