LOL Class

:) Actually I was being sarcastic about the real world time between the two, yes its annoying we have so little Who this year but in the grand scheme of things it's not an utter disaster.

Well....The Seventh Doctor likely made it past 1,000 years old (from the birth of the First Doctor) before TVM. The Eighth Doctor ran around for quite some time before dying on Karn. I take the Doctor's stated age of 900+ years old from Rose onwards as 900 years after Karn (his second life). This means he spend 800 years or more fighting in the Time War and justifies the War Doctor's aging from Karn to the end of the war and his death from "wearing a bit thin" like the First Doctor and later Eleventh Doctor after a thousand years or so since regenerating from the Tenth Doctor.

That's the way I see it, too -- the Doctor started recounting his age with the War Doctor. Judging by the dialogue in "The Day of the Doctor," the ages of War and Eleven are directly comparable.

This would mean the Doctor's longest-lived incarnations are Eleven (1100-plus years) and War (800-plus years). (Based on the EDAs and the audios, Eight also has a significant lifespan of hundreds of years.) The shortest? Ten-1 and Ten-2 at four-ish and one-ish respectively.

Nine?

I still think there's wriggle room for Ten to have fitted in a few more years. Eleven could have been mistaken/lying, and do we even know how ling a Galifreyan year is? maybe different incarnations count it differently.

As for Ten 2 who knows how long he'll live for? Five and Six must count as pretty short lived too.

So according to Capaldi at Awesome Con in DC at the weekend he just shot something new with Jenna Coleman. Given that DW doesn't (finally) start shooting again for another few weeks yet I guess it has to be for 'Class'.

Doctors from oldest to youngest

Eleven (by far)
Warrior (I like the restart-the-count theory)
Eight
Four
First
Six
Five
Third
Twelve
Second
Ten

Not sure about Seven. And I discount the Meta Crisis, on the grounds that a)he's probably still alive, and could feasibly last 'till old age, and b)he might well return with a twist one day, so who knows. But anyway, what'd you think?

Capaldi's actual wording is that he just filmed "something with Clara" which rules out the possibility that Jenna is returning as a Clara splinter.

But, last year we were getting it bashed over the head by reminders that Clara is done, we won't see her after her departure in the finale. Despite this, the finale went ahead and undid her death and left the door open for a potential return. And now, it hasn't even been a year and she's already returning to the franchise.

One of the characters is supposed to be an alien that the Doctor hides in the school, so I'd guess it'll be a flashback to that event, so Clara from the past rather than the present.

No nine? I think Seven must have been doddering around for ages given he looked appreciably older in the TVM. Are you basing some of this on BF?

I knew I forgot one! Let me repost:

He'd have to be alognside Eight and Four, I just don't know for sure.

re you basing some of this on BF?
Absolutely. Six certainly has an expanded lifetime.

The main character could be a bisexual mixed-race transgendered paraplegic Muslim with rocket thrusters coming out of their ears and a pet robotic squirrel - you still would struggle to get people to care about this show.

Pretty much. I'll tune in for Jenna Coleman's cameo and then I'm out. No interest whatsoever in this show.
